WASHINGTON — Gen. David H. Petraeus, the face of the Iraq troop surge and a favorite of former President George W. Bush, spoke up or was called upon by President Obama “several times” during the big Afghanistan strategy session in the Situation Room last week, one participant says, and will be back for two more meetings this week.

Someone in the BO clique is either interested in what Petraeus has to say, or wants to coopt him into strategizing (which they will ignore) but then blame him for the outcome and diminish his legacy from Iraq.

I suspect the latter.

Considering that General Petraeus did come up with the winning strategy in Iraq then it stands to reason that they’d consult him.

Considering this TOTUS doesn't have the guts to do what it will take to “win” against brutal terrorists in Afghanistan, and is catering to a base that ridiculed “General Betray -Us”

they are unlikely to follow Petraeus’ recommendations

But by calling this guy in, they can make it look like the President is considering his advice - and blame the Generals when the war is lost. If Petraeus runs for office his face will be in the DNC ads for who gave the TOTUS bad advice and lost the war in Afghanistan

In the meantime, while the libs attempt to cover their posteriors and 0bama is jet-setting and having “date night”, good men are dying in Afghanistan.

Obamalamadingdong won't follow Petraeus' advice, though. I think Petraeus is way too smart to fall for this sort of trap. We might just be watching Obama being set up. McCrystal has already given his recommendations to Obama. Obama is ignoring him and he's Obama's man. If Petraeus gives his recommendations, which will undoubtedly mirror McCrystal's, and Obamalamadingdong decides to take his own path and chooses to ignore both of them, especially after he installed McCrystal, both will likely resign and rightfully so. When that happens and Afghanistan descends into chaos Obama will explicitly certify to everyone that he is an inexperienced, naive fool......and when that happens all the media spin in the world won't help put Humpty Dumpty back together again.....

This president may be playing a game so we can loose to his brothers. He will then be able to tell the world our military is not as great as has been reported.

Oh, the screaming media of America will line up to protect nobama’s back if this go bad in Afghanistan. They’ve been had hook, line and sinker. Watch what they’re doing today, blame an ex-president for this tourist in chief’s loss of the Olympics in his festering city.

Yeah, well, history repeats itself. The media was all supportive of Johnson during the early days of Vietnam, too. Back then Johnson was the media's darling, signing the Civil Rights Act and the various (no so)Great Society programs. Then, uncle Walter turned against Johnson when things started going down hill and the rest of the media lemmings followed suit. The result was Johnson refusing to accept the nomination for a second term and fading into obscurity. You watch. The old saying of "when it gets down to your or me, you gotta go" is going to play out with the media and Obama. If the media has a choice between their own failure and Obama's failure, they will throw Obama under the bus and it will happen fast. In fact, I think it's already starting.......
