The difference between Japan holding the Majority and China holding it is that Japan doesn't have a policy of expanding it's territory, which China does.
Actually, I don't like us owing too much money to anyone, even if it was Canada or Great Britain.
Whoever the media goes after hardest is probably our best candidate, IMHO. Right now it’s Sarah Palin but that can change as we get closer. The media/press acts like a bell weather to who would be the best one to run.
World doesn't work that way.
World doesn't work that way.
I just wonder how much this cost Valerie Jarrett in real estate sales.
Obie would have been stupid for listening to Biden. We all know he is just repeating something somebody else has already said... :)
I know your intentions are good, but a new-hire incentive is gimmicky intrusion like cash for clunkers or an incentive for homebuyers or artificially low interest rates. Let those for whom it makes business sense hire—without penalizing those who’ve already hired—and drastically cut taxes and spending across the board.
I agree that we have way too much debt regardless of who buys it. My grand kids will have to pay it back to whoever owns it, and no country can thrive under such a burden. Actually survive might be a better word than thrive. As for China, there is a view that says the more their economy depends on our economy the better. They will then be less likely to act against our interests if such action could impair our ability to repay them or cause a drastic decline in the value of the dollar. Either way, I hate debt and deficits.
The only reason Obama went to Copenhagen is because the Daley machine forced him to. Chicago had invested $50 million in preparing this bid. They had a lot riding on this gambit.
I for one thought that there was no way that Chicago would get the bid, which would have made it the third time in 32 years that the Summer Olympics would be held in the US. And maybe most Americans don’t understand how loved Brazilians are in the sports world, mainly due to their enthusiastic and warm fans who support Brazilian football, the most respected and successful in the world’s most popular sport. Pele was worth ten Obamas when it comes to convincing the IOC to vote for Rio. And the fact that South America has never hosted the Olympics really made it no contest.
Chicago received 18 votes out of 94. I just don’t believe that the Chicago team did not know generally how the vote totals stood. Obama was the Hail Mary pass. It didn’t work. Obama was the tool of the Chicago political machine and he went on this suicide mission to placate them even if it meant humiliating himself and the office of the President. That is the scary part to me. Who else has leverage over this guy?
I just got home and am tuning in here. Correct if I’m wrong, but there’s a whole gang here that’s all sitting around lambasting the right for having a bit of glee at the sight of utter stupidity in front of our lying eyes.
So the solution isn’t that the lacklusters in the WH and Obamessiah should STOP doing dumb laughable things...it’s that WE SHOULD NOT LAUGH AT THEM WHEN THEY DO IT?
Is the solution these fine folk are laying before us, do I have this right?
Which will then allow the Lacklusters and Obamer to do all sorts of silly stuff but they’ll never know it because all they’ll hear is the sound of one hand clapping...do I have the summary of this fine, fine group of liberals right?
Notice how well-balanced this group is in terms of idealogy, I might add.
Wow, David Brooks is a lost ball. He refers to Rush, Glen, Mark Levin as lunes and harmful to America. Get out of the beltway, David. Visit real America!
Picking on Beck is their way of saying that the real Americans out here are to be ignored. We’re ignorant, uninformed and unwashed as far as the D.C. crowd is concerned.
And Mayor Daley is running Valerie Jarrett.
Just heard Greenspan,what a loser.
This clown is afraid to tell it like it is when he knows dam well that the Joker is destroying the economy. I wish I had a transcript of the interview it would be so easy to tear it apart.
He says zero has now spent 40% of the stimulus(Rush said 14% earlier in the week) and it isn't working but nixes a new one which he got right.
Greenspan not have the guts to say that small business needs every break it can get when he knows that is the answer, his entire appearance was totally pathetic.
His caretaker(Andrea whatever--Mitchell/greenspan?) must be influencing him greatly at his advancing age.
You’re right but real solutions don’t fit the Keynesian mindset liberals have. They want to empower government, not business or the people. So the Democrats plan will not work even though they wish it to be so.
I really don’t see anything positive happening until after the 2010 elections, and not even then if Republicans don’t take control of, or have enough votes to stop them.
Another thing is that the MEDIA only talked to the Chicago people, and went all out trumpeting it as a lock and that it was because of Obama, whose wonderfulness in Copenhagen would be the icing on the cake.
He was undone by his sycophantic media as much as anything.
Quite satisfying, at least to me.
I should point out I live in the Indianapolis area, and having an Olympics so close would have meant my grandkids could attend. It also may have meant some tourism and jobs for northern Indiana, although in that case I am pretty sure Daley would have wanted to keep everything within his influence. I didn't ever think it would happen, though, for the reasons you described.
The Chicago people were incredibly naive, which is actually helpful to us. It shows their vulnerability to navigating in political waters they aren't familiar with, and therefore shows that a campaign which is unconventional may get them so flustered that they can be beaten.
There is no stinking way 40% has been spent. Where Federal infrastructure contracts are concerned there is no such thing as a “shovel ready project”. Especially when you are talking about bridges over water. Lots of environmental impact studies, public hearings, etc, etc. These things can run years before the first dirt is moved.
