I thought I read somewhere on FR that this whole thing got started up because of Polanski’s lawyers actually going to a judge to try to drop the whole extradition thing now that he’s so old. And it backfired on them big time.
I read that too and it is quite believable. Polansky’s lawyers stirred up a hornet’s nest at the DA’s office
I wondered why he was arrested all of a sudden. They’d kind of let him slide for the last 30 years. They could have picked him up at almost any time; he hasn’t exactly been hiding.
