Take our PollLetterman's future

Do you think David Letterman should resign after admitting he had affairs with staffers?

No - elected officials have done worse and kept their jobs.
Yes - it sets a terrible example for others in postions of power and influence.
Not sure.

Just punching his card.

Letterman must have plans to get into politics.

Interesting how all the players in the story are from CBS. CBS must be a cess-pool of back-stabbing, sex, and political gamesmanship. These perverted elites at CBS would do well in any Roman Emporer’s court.

The intern later replied that he had suffered from “smallcox”.

Badda-bing.

Hey, he’s a lib. We KNOW he don’t got no b*lls.

Well, Letterman isn’t the host of holy hour, so I don’t know if this is going to hurt him or not, but as to him quitting, it sure would be nice, but I don’t see him doing it on his own.

Don’t know enough yet. But if this was a matter of dating and relationships, where no coercion, favors, or deception was involved, then no I don’t think he should be fired. If weven one woman comes forward and says there was coercion or threats to keep silent, then yes, fire him and castrate him with a dull spoon. But so far, two wanted to marry him, one did. This one said they dated for a year...Hardly sounds like Letterman was just trying to add notches to his headboard...

I am not saying his behavior was laudable, but then I’ve heard nothing to suggest these weren’t relationships between consenting adults, before Letterman got married.

Letterman used his position as boss to have affairs. They do not seem to be abusive affairs. I think they need to leave him alone. The question is , did he have them after he was married?

Then thats between him and his wife.

If he were in elective office, he would have to go, as someone who does not meet the necessary public trust.

He is an entertainer. He will be at CBS as long as his ratings stay up and he has advertizers.

He may have violated CBS corporate policy.

And he may have some problems with sexual harassment liability, but so far no one has complained.

I do not respect his life style.

Dave is self-employed and thus cannot resign.

These floozies got in the sack and did the humpty dumpty with the slimy old fart because they thought doing so would further their careers. Letterman is just plain ugly. He has the cash to attract women, not the looks.

I’m not sure we have the whole story yet. So I will wait for the “rest of the story” before making my final judgement.

I don't see the problem. If I'd been a honcho at CBS and not married, I'd poked every good looking honey that’d have me. The sex wasn't forced upon the women.. Letterman is a sleezeball but the last I saw, sleezeball is not a punishable offense.

No: elected DEMOCRAT officials have done worse and kept their jobs.
There, I fixed it.

I think this is an issue because he slept with Stephanie, Holy, and other female interns. If he slept with Rupert, the deli guy, the CBS and other MSMs would not think it a big deal.

Was alcohol and Quaaludes involved? If so, then it’s OK.

This is all cheap gossip, what you’d expect from a bunch of giggly high school girls. Everyone is missing the real story here: the blackmailer. He’s an alleged award winning journalist/producer, who in this instance, spiked a story for cash. So how many other stories did he spike—or perhaps alter—for cash? Has anyone done any research on this guy? This is CBS, Dan Rather’s network—is this a pervasive pattern?

Am I missing something here?

Yeah...Like everyone else here I used to be a fan, but at some point he just seemed not as funny anymore, even sometimes bitter, so I never watch him and haven't in years.

However, from what I have read, both of the women have chosen to reveal themselves and said nothing but nice things about him. They're almost bragging. There is no evidence, at least so far, that he did anything to pressure them into a relationship. He asked one to a movie, and she is claiming she would have married him. And apparently he was the one uncomfortable with their age difference.

I know in the workplace it is forbidden to date a subordinate, but it happens all the time, and it doesn't seem like these women felt the need to date him in exchange for job security.

The mere fact that he is an entertainer means he is already stricken from my role-model list, so my standards for his behavior are really low, but he was single at the time. (That's the info so far)

Unless more information comes out, I don't think this is a big deal, and frankly, I think it's turning him into a sympathetic figure.

Butthatsjustme.
