It goes without saying the Obama-loving media will be in full damage control mode this weekend trying to spin Friday's announcement that Chicago will not be the host of the 2016 Olympics, but this one has to take the cake:

Losing the Olympics Bid Is Good for Obama

I agree and could easily believe was known. Obama does not want all his Chicago homies coming out of the woodwork with corrupt deals on his watch.

Simply amazingly self-deluded? Or a world-class suckup? You decide:

But ultimately, it’s a good thing for him. As I wrote on Monday, the Olympics are notorious for running massively over budget. The organizing committees are always rife with infighting and power games as all manner of colorful cronies badger members to get their paws on some of those coveted Olympics dollars. Public support for the Olympics in Chicago itself was already lukewarm. Residents would have been facing seven years of disruptive construction and roadwork as their city raced to prepare itself. It’s a recipe for serious disgruntlement.

Obama would have been inextricably tied to all of this—the budget overruns, the construction hiccups, the predictable corruption. By going to Copenhagen, he became the public face of the effort. Already, some of his closest supporters and friends were on the bid committee: his campaign’s national finance chair Penny Pritzker and a co-chair of his inaugural committee, Patrick Ryan, both had key roles. Senior adviser David Axelrod’s communications firm, AKPD Media, was one of the contractors for the committee, and Obama confidant Valerie Jarrett had been involved in supporting the bid. When problems would start to arise in the planning of this mammoth event—and they invariably would have—Obama would be implicated, regardless of his actual involvement.

I sure wish you would LEARN how to post so we wouldn’t have to see the complete web link, it is tacky.

Blame it on Axelrod!

Because his former PR firm did all the work and was paid millions for the project of presenting Chicago’s bid.

Follow the money trail!

This needs to be investigated.

Four of the five co-chairs of Obama’sinaugural committee continue to have unpaid leadership roles in Chicago 2016, including Pat Ryan, the chairman and CEO of Chicago 2016; John Rodgers, the treasurer and director of Chicago 2016; Bill Daley, the former Clinton administration commerce secretary and brother of the Chicago mayor; and Penny Pritzker, the Chicago businesswoman and Hyatt hotel heiress who led Obama’s meteoric presidential campaign fundraising.

Pritzker’s family also owns or manages a handful of hotels singled out by Chicago 2016 as accommodations for Olympic workers, press and family members.

Ryan and Priztker each contributed $100,000 or more to Chicago 2016, as did White House Social Secretary Desiree Rogers, an Obama family friend, who also served on the Chicago committee. It still counts Obama confidant and vacation companion Eric Whitaker among its members. Jarrett was replaced as vice chair by Martin Nesbitt, the treasurer of Obama’s campaign and another Obama family insider.

ASK Public Strategies, the Chicago-based corporate public relations company founded by Obama political guru David Axelrod and owned and run by some of Obama’s top presidential campaign consultants, was paid “in the tens of thousands” of dollars by Chicago 2016 to do “communication management [and] communication planning,” said former Axelrod partner Eric Sedler, who did not work for the Obama campaign but is in Copenhagen, along with Pritzker and Jarrett.

“ASK has worked on the bid for three years and for two thirds of that time our work has been pro bono,” said Sedler, who would not speculate on whether the company would be in line for more Olympic work if the IOC picks Chicago.

Don't worry this is good for America. We are trying to get to 20% unemployment numbers and we cannot do this unless we continue to lose jobs and the Olympics does not help. Everything is under control.

You know that is a great post. No wonder Axelrod looked like someone had kicked him in the stomach this afternoon. That Pritzker woman is as corrupt as they come.

Funny, Beck just was saying the same thing the other day, and he's crazy.

None of what he says changes the plain fact that Barry went to Copenhagen, oiled his smarmy way around the IOC, and took it for granted for that his media-granted “charisma” would just charm them into begging him to have the Olympics in Chicago. Barry and He-shelle went there, they wanted it, and they plainly and unmistakeably FAILED to get what they went after. Whether it would’ve been god or bad is beside the point. Barry wanted this, Barry arrogantly thought he couldn’t be refused, and Barry was WRONG. LOL.

Yup. The media will be in full mode portraying Obama`s failure to get the Olympics as a huge success.

>> Newsweak. What a pathetic excuse for journalism.

Have you noticed? Since Bambi got elected, Oprah got a lot fatter... and Newsweak got a lot thinner!

That’s both fair, and balanced.

Some Lib congressman was on the local news blaming the Olympics fiasco on.....

You guessed it President Bush!

He was claiming that President Bush had damaged our standing in the world so badly that despite Obama's "heroic efforts" there was still too much anti-American sentiment left over from the Bush years for Chicago to win.
