The leader of the country's largest Indian reservation threw his support behind the neighboring Hopi Tribe, whose lawmakers declared environmental groups unwelcome on the reservation.
Navajo President Joe Shirley Jr. and Hopi lawmakers say environmentalists' efforts could hurt the tribes' struggling economies by slowing or stopping coal mining. Shirley said Wednesday that he will stand in solidarity with the Hopi Tribe, and joined Hopi lawmakers in encouraging other tribes to re-evaluate their relationships with environmentalists.

After generations of being targeted by radical environmentalist Green factions seeking useful idiots to cloak their agendas, Hopi and Navajo tribal leaders have sent this ubiquitious gang of wanna-be Bronze Gods of the Wilderness packing. And about time too! The meddling trust fund hippies have succeeded in costing the tribes large numbers of meaningful jobs, causing great harm to reservation families and communities.

Look for greenie counterattacks. Since these Indian leaders disagree with them, they can’t be “real” Indians. They’ve sold out to the corporations.
Given the widespread corruption in Indian tribal governments, this might actually not be so far from the trutn.

Green man speak with forked tongue..................You bet your last wampum bead he does! I've been out around this country for 38 years and the amount of discord, grief and rampant profiteering perpetrated by these Birkenstock bedecked crusaders passes all belief.
Back to your Starbucks and your parent's basements in Montery, ya bums. And take your crummy microbusses and Subarus with you, the Sixties are over!

Cant add a word to your excellent commentary. About damn time these idiots got the boot.Thanks. Work is good for people. Staring at the empty horizon all day is not. I saw prosperous and happy families with good mining jobs. I saw broken families with troubled kids and drunken parents on welfare. The choice should be easy for anyone who isn't motivated by an evil agenda.

Well said! It’s good the tribal leaders have told the radical enviros to take a hike. Indian nations have been stewards of the land for centuries and are quite capable of doing so for many more without those radicals dictating to them. This must really upset the radicals because they can’t file lawsuits to change the decision. :)

"Environmentalists are good at identifying problems but poor at identifying feasible solutions," Shirley said in a news release. "Most often they don't try to work with us but against us, giving aid and comfort to those opposed to the sovereign decision-making of tribes."Wayta go, Joe! Glad to see to you're finally waking up. The Navajo/Hopi should be working with honest brokers to promote balanced energy and economic solutions that put the Nations first, not an alterior/exterior agenda.
