Is this any way to run a war?
Critics are lambasting President Obama for hitting the pause button on the war in Afghanistan, making U.S. commanders seeking thousands more troops there wait for a decision as he tries to get the "strategy right first."
"The commander in chief is the commander in chief, period," said retired Army Lt. Col. James Carafano, a senior fellow at the conservative Heritage Foundation. "You can't fight a war from Washington D.C. There's only one way this works: You have trust and confidence in the leaders on the ground, or you don't."
Some critics are going so far as to ask whether Obama is more concerned with finding a political strategy to ensure his re-election than he is in finding a military strategy to win the eight-year war.

The list, ping
The president made it clear today that this is NATO’s war not America’s soooooooooooo all of NATO must have their discussion to decide what is best.

Fantastic, war by committee. We might as well get the hell out of there then.
Can’t bother cissy boy...he’s off to Copenhagen on our dime to get the Olympics....this war thing is annoying.
I heard the sound bite and couldn’t believe that this was a President of the USA stating that whatever NATO decides is how we will protect ourselves!
Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t 0 in Copenhagen, greasing palms for a Chicago Olympics?
He really said that!? We need to get some adults back in charge.
That is a slimy Chi-town money hustle. He is involved in a dirty money scam up to his eyeballs. Axelrod and Jarrett are both in this fix.
Isn’t it clear to the rest of posters here that Obama is stalling for several weeks so Polls and focus groups response can be measured. He will bend the way the wind blows.
He does not care that our solders are at risk, while he has his finger in the wind.
Face it people, we have wasted 8 years of blood and treasure for nothing. Obama does not have the stomach to do what needs to be done. He also doesn’t want to alienate his looney left base. The ROE that have been imposed on our soldiers and Marines will not allow them to win this war anyway. If we are not going to fight to win we need to pull our troops out now, we don’t need another wall honoring another generation of Americans who were sold out for political expediency.
Yeah, he’s busy with more important things like the olympics for that crime infested, corrupt city he comes from. He sure has his priorities straight doesn’t he?
Not true. America helped keep themselves safer for those 8 years. Besides, this president will not not have the last word on all of this.
We pull out and it is going to be a disaster for us that will be worst than any nightmare we can imagine.
I am a vet and my eldest son is also. He got out two years ago. His brother my youngest son just turned 18 and had always planned to join the military when he graduated. His brother and I have both begged him not to go in now. Between the boy-king’s hatred of the military and the ROE we’re sending our best to the slaughter and for what?
If we don’t play for keeps and win this damn war, the only thing the last 8 years will have been is the eye of the storm. I hope Obama doesn’t have the last word, but it ain’t looking good for the home team right now.
I am a retired Marine, and have a son in the Army and one in the Corps. I don’t want either of them in Afgahnistan untill the ROE are changed, and we start fighting this to win. My son in the Army has already done 2 tours in Iraq.
