Iran warns West against "past mistakes"

TEHRAN (Reuters) - Iran said on Tuesday it would refuse to discuss a newly declared nuclear plant at forthcoming international talks and cautioned Western powers it could curb cooperation further if they repeated "past mistakes."
An Iranian MP suggested that parliament might advocate withdrawal from the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) if Thursday's Geneva talks with major powers fail and "if the Zionists (Israel) and America continue their pressure on Iran" -- a reference to policies including economic sanctions.
Washington has suggested possible new sanctions on banking and the oil and gas industry if Tehran fails to assuage Western fears it seeks nuclear weapons. U.S. officials believe sanctions could now have more effect, playing on leadership divisions evident since a disputed presidential poll.

"If the Zionists and America continue their pressure on Iran and if the talks...do not reach a conclusion, then parliament will take a clear and transparent position, such as Iran's withdrawal from the NPT," he said. Iran is taking a page from N. Korea.

Four countries are not part of the NPT: Israel, North Korea, Pakistan, and India. All four have nuclear weapons. If Iran withdraws from the NPT, the conclusion is obvious.

I hope they do. Time is not on our side. The sooner this is brought to a crisis point the better. Talks favor Iran by buying time and allowing more chances for the traitor Obama to sell out the west. The only hope for the US and the west is for these talks to collapse so badly that Israel gives up on talk and Europe give up on meddling Middle Ease.

Iran threatened to pull out of the NPT 3 years ago. I’d take this with a pinch of salt, probably just trying to scare the P5+1 ahead of the meeting.

And a treaty, which a party can withdraw from at will, is worth..........uhhh........ WHAT, exactly?I don't think it really matters whether Iran withdraws from the treaty. They are proliferating regardless of the treaty anyway.
But in the increasingly likely event that the Obama administration and our Democrat Senate ever commits our nation to a new international climate treaty, a treaty recognizing the International Criminal Court, or any treaty that gives up even one molecule of American sovereignty to the UN, I would hope that a saner administration that follows would withdraw from it immediately upon taking office.

I don't think it really matters whether Iran withdraws from the treaty. They are proliferating regardless of the treaty anyway. In terms of substance, it doesn't matter. However, in terms of form, it does. If Iran withdraws, it will not be in violation of the NPT and cannot be censured by the international committee for violating the treaty. It is the same reason that Israel, India, Pakistan, and North Korea have not joined.
