Didn’t he also sing “Born Free”? (of course I can’t even think of that song without hearing bombs and guns going off in the background, thanks Rush ;^).

Yup, and he asked Rush to stop using it. I believe Rush complied.

I saw Andy Williams and Petula Clark perform at his theater in Branson back in ‘05. At 31, I was the youngest person in the entire audience. Petula still “had it” and Andy had to warm up a little, but he hit his stride. I still think Jerry “Iceman” Butler did the best version of “Moon River”, though. =8-0

Maybe that’s it. I’m not old enough to remember that, I guess, I don’t remember politics before Johnson. I know my parents never liked the Kennedys and thought they were a corrupt bunch from the get go (and they are Williams age group).

Rush just clarified what I intended to post earlier, Andy himself LOVES the AnimalRightsWackos update tune, it was the people with the rights to Born Free who complained and denied him the use of the song.

[Never knew he was a Republican.
I recall him being a big Kennedy supporter (Jack)]

Frank Sinatra was also a huge supporter of JFK. He later became a conservative Republican and was a huge Reagan supporter. Frank Sinatra produced the inaugural gala for both John Kennedy and Ronald Reagan. He was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by Reagan.

Here is a youtube clip of Sinatra interviewed by Chris Wallace at the 1980 Republican Convention.

I am glad Andy said this. Wish more had the courage to speak out. Maybe because he is far beyond needing the support of Hollywood types and being in their good graces. He is not dependent on the liberals there. He has paid his dues, done his time in the entertainment world, and is now free to be honest.

And, if this is a current picture he still looks darn good for his age. What a beautiful smile and bright eyes.

"I was very close to Teddy Kennedy, too, and his death recently brought it all back. What a tragedy. Had he lived, I think Bobby would have been a great president."

That's a great quote! Basically, it says, "When Teddy died, it reminded me that I liked his brother alot."

Interesting to note, the Kennedys forced Sinatra to withdraw his invitaion Sammy Davis Jr. to perform at JFK’s inaugrual gala because of his interracial marriage (Sinatra was best man).

“It was one of the few times {Sinatra} ever felt at such a loss,” wrote Nancy Sinatra.

"Don't like him at all," he said, "I think he wants to create a socialist country. The people he associates with are very Left-wing. One is registered as a Communist. "Obama is following Marxist theory. He's taken over the banks and the car industry. He wants the country to fail."

Apparently, no longer worried about getting invited to parties in Hollywood or Hyannis.

Good option of Obama Andy but extremely wrong on 'Bobby'.
