People Can Opt Out of Listing STDs, Abortions in Gov't-Mandated Electronic Health Records
CNSNews ^ | 9/28/09 | Nicholas Ballasy

Rep. Patrick Kennedy (D.-R.I.) says people will be able to stop doctors from including records of sexually transmitted diseases and abortions in the new national system of Electronic Health Records that was mandated by the stimulus law enacted in February.

The law says that doctors, hospitals and other health care providers must create an Electronic Health Record (EHR) for every American by 2014 or else face deductions in their Medicare payments. The EHRs are supposed to be integrated into a national health care IT system where health-care providers nationwide as well as the government would have the ability to access them when authorized.

“This is totally going to be up to the individual,” Kennedy told CNSNews.com when specifically asked if these EHRs would include any STDs or abortions in a person's medical history.

It think it’s ‘penubra” (sp?) instead of umbrella.

Regardless it’s B.S.

I think they cannot afford to have any official database that can can be used to count how many abortions REALLY take place in America.

What I’m wondering is if abortion is okay and a “woman’s right” then why all the hush-hush about it? After all, according to the left, a baby in the first trimester or so is only just a bunch of cells anyway, so why hide it?

The hypocrisy is mind boggling.

I believe, and I could be wrong, but the stimulus bill included the development of a national computer network that would provide your health records to doctors and hospitals across the country.”

It isn’t just doctors and hospitals- IOt will be accessed by any Federal agency that wishes to do so.

Also- Since when does any doctor or hospital screen their employees to the degree that any of us would feel solid about having our information out there?

They don't. And, you can be sure, that anyone that wants your information will have it. Nothing is that secure. It just makes me sick -- oops, don't want to get sick. ; o)

While I have nothing to do with any of the sex subject of this article, I have already started to keep certain things from my doctors.

I know that this can potentially have a negative impact on my health and/or make it more difficult for the doctors, as well as cost more for diagnosis, it’s the way it’s going to be with me.

The government has screwed up the doctor-patient relationship, because there are some things that I don’t care for others to know, especially the government.

As an example: I underwent heart surgery, suffered a stroke during surgery and contracted MRSA. Instead of 6 to 10 day stay in the hospital, I stayed 2 months and then another 6 months of in home recovery with home nurses 3 to 4 times a week.

My doctors wanted me to take head meds because of possible depression that can often accompany such an experience. I declined the meds, even though they may have helped calm the heart, because I didn’t want that med on my record out of concern of how it might impact my 2A rights in the future.

My medical records are nobody’s business but mine and my doctors, but apparently that’s not going to be the case anymore.

Wow - how big of them.

Is there anything else the government deems me worthy of?

So sadly, we will be out of here. But we are ok with that.

I'm sorry to say this, but I am sick and tired of fair weather patriots such as yourself. To say the 'we are ok with that' when remarking on deserting your country makes me want to puke my guts out. To be driven out of your homeland is one thing, to glibly state you are OK with the desertion is something else.

John Adams sums it up for me '...and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.'

So anything the left considers appropriately PC will just be our little secret. Uh huh. Unless, of course, you are a republican candidate running for office.

What about other things the patient might want to keep private?

If it is a favored liberal ideal you won't have to report it.

I’m no fair weather patriot but I am beginning to think the patriots are a bunch of damn pussies. How to close do we have to get to being the USSR before people say enough is enough. If they choose to lay down and lick the boots of that POS squatter in the WH, then go for it. I have no intention of doing so.
We have 2 homes here, and one outside the US. We will always keep a home here. However, I have no intention of being bullied and living under Barry’s Marxism. I think the people that do are the fools. Keep paying those taxes to the pinko bastard, so he can use them to implement his agenda. No thanks, not me. I’ll take my tax dollars with me and he can KMA!
If people ever decide to get off their dead a*ses and actually stand up to this tyranny, I’ll be the first in line. I doubt they will. They will just keep taking it, one dose at a time.

deserting your country
____________
Deserting a tyranny and a dictator. Not my country. If my country isn’t a free country and is a shell of what it once was, I will leave. It doesn’t mean I don’t and won’t always love my country. It means I just choose not to live bound by chains.

I’ve done the same thing.
Gone to one doctor on the books so to speak under my insurance and paid out of pocket with another doctor w/o insurnace. I’m sure many people do this.
