I thought we had the basis of great B-Movie here, “Attack of the Killer Groupies.”

What is to explain? These people are simply stupid.

It’s a phenomenon that’s little understood and seldom studied: Women who fall hopelessly in love = death wish.

I’ve never understood this, although I think that a lot of women have the fantasy of seeing themselves “rescuing” some misguided soul from his awful deeds. This is the basic Don Juan scenario, where somebody is converted by love.

It probably happens occasionally that men turn aside from crime because of the love of a good woman, but I doubt that it happens at all in the case of sexual psychopaths. They are in their own heads, they’re crazy, and any woman who thinks otherwise ought to have her own head examined.

It’s more or less equivalent to the question of why people vote for someone like Obama.

Ted Bundy had a large contingent of groupies. They even died, cut their hair and dressed to resemble his victims at his trial.

These women are seriously stuck on stupid.

AFAIK, there is no male equivalent, although this may because there are a lot fewer female multiple murderers.

Borderline Personality Disorder(5 of 9 needed for diagnosis):

1. Frantic efforts to avoid real or imagined abandonment. [Not including suicidal or self-injuring behavior covered in Criterion 5]
2. A pattern of unstable and intense interpersonal relationships characterized by alternating between extremes of idealization and devaluation.
3. Identity disturbance: markedly and persistently unstable self-image or sense of self.
4. Impulsivity in at least two areas that are potentially self-damaging (e.g., promiscuous sex, eating disorders, binge eating, substance abuse, reckless driving). [Again, not including suicidal or self-injuring behavior covered in Criterion 5]
5. Recurrent suicidal behavior, gestures, threats or self-injuring behavior such as cutting, interfering with the healing of scars (excoriation) or picking at oneself.
6. Affective instability due to a marked reactivity of mood (e.g., intense episodic dysphoria, irritability or anxiety usually lasting a few hours and only rarely more than a few days).
7. Chronic feelings of emptiness
8. Inappropriate anger or difficulty controlling anger (e.g., frequent displays of temper, constant anger, recurrent physical fights).
9. Transient, stress-related paranoid ideation, delusions or severe dissociative symptoms

I first heard of this phenomenon after Richard Speck went to prison for killing 8 student nurses in Chicago. He got bags of marriage proposals, nude photos, etc. for years, and even he was shocked by it. This was a guy who was a totally amoral sociopath, and even he was moved to remark "there's a lot of really sick people out there."

The attraction is that the serial killers display the ultimate in male domination and sexuality. They are the Top Dawgs in the "mating display" arena.

In the mid to late 19th century, there was a spate of American women serial killers, who poisoned their entire families ostensibly for the insurance money (obviously it takes more psychological problems than pathological greed to be able to murder your husband and children, especially by so agonizing a method as poisoning) . Contemporary commentators were disgusted by the large numbers of men who wrote to these women offering financial aid and even proposing marriage to the self made widows. When a woman offender gets a lot of media attention today, the same dynamic reappears. Killer groupies are by no means women only.

It’s about celebrity. These women couldn’t get a real ‘celebrity’, but they can get THIS kind.

Just read down a list of movie plots. The perversion of them is shocking, when you really think about it.

Years ago I read Little Women, as a child. In it is a part where Alcott talks about how Jo’s mind starts to become spiritually damaged by her preoccupation with dark things as subjects for her stories.

As a Christian, I often thought of that whenever I read the bible verse, “Whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on THESE things.”

Nowadays this is a foreign concept; modernists are concerned with cleaning the earth, but the idea of schooling your thoughts to keep them filled with noble things is considered puritannical and strange.

The bible talks about silly women laden with sins led away by deceitful men. There is a tendency in the nature of mankind to be fascinated by evil, and it can be a deadly character trait. Every so often the worm sticks its head out of the apple and grins.

"You have to feel sorry for these people as it is always going to end in death," Murphy said.

In reality, Ramirez will probably die of old age before he meets the needle on California's Death Row.

I read a true crime book about Ramirez. What a scumbag. Anyways, there was a woman on his jury who left her husband and children and went to earn her P.I. license just so she could meet with Ramirez face to face for sexual encounters.

He also got his crooked teeth repaired into a gleaming white smile on behalf of California's taxpayers.
