President Obama will travel to Copenhagen to make a pitch for Chicago’s Olympic bid, White House officials have confirmed to NBC News.

Obama will leave for Denmark Thursday night, hours after his wife Michelle departs for the vote. The president made the final decision Saturday night after returning from the G20 summit in Pittsburgh.

The announcement ends months of speculation of whether the president would lend his considerable fame to the pitch. The president has dropped hints all month long that he may attend the event.

Last week he sent an advance team to Copenhagen just in case he could make it ...

With terrorists running all around the country why are we painting a big bulls eye on one of our cities. Let it go to someplace else.

With all due respect because I know you indicated that you are from Chicago....however Chicago & its politics & policies are a festering cess pool of corruption. Maybe a BIG bullseye needed to be painted on Chicago just to eliminate the socialist vermin. Maybe you can get out while there is still time.

This is an unprecedented attempt to manipulate the outcome. It will be impossible for the committee to reject Chicago after an Obama visit. If they do, of course they will be labeled as racists. Those Euros take that much more seriously than do we Americans.

This is getting ridiculous. This man will take the "first plane out" to avoid a decision. We've got troops dying in Afghanistan and this President decides the Olympics are more important than making a decision (ONE WAY OR THE OTHER) for our troops? We had another President once that decided to make the Olympics a part of presidential foreign policy ... that one was summarily defeated in a landslide at the next election. Aren't the similarities amazing?

Obama is not a leader, he is an actor ... decision-making is not part of his makeup ... that's why he voted "Present" 130 times as a state senator. Today, by NOT making a decision and by putting the Olympics ahead of the safety of our troops in Afghanistan ... he is again voting PRESENT.

"Maybe a BIG bullseye needed to be painted on Chicago just to eliminate the socialist vermin."

I never want to see a US city leveled. Not even Chicago or San Francisco. What I want to see is the FBI and US Marshals descend on Chicago like the guys from Verminators. Drain the swamp, eliminate the parasites.

But right now Chicago is so corrupt as to be hopeless. Law enforcement in Illinois is intentionally sabotaged in order to keep competent and ambitious individuals, who might investigate government corruption, from rising up the ranks. Chicago's cops are trained not to look into anything that appears crooked, because it might embarrass Mayor for Life Daley or one of his cronies. It makes it very easy for AlQuida to sneak in.

Chicago's law enforcement is like the Red Army in 1941. It is politically reliable, but completely unable to do its job. Look at the murder rate. They won't go after the gangs because it will upset the Reverend Wright and his crew. And the Dems need those votes, so people just have to die. It cannot hope to defend the city against well trained terrorists. Even armatures would probably be able to do massive damage.

He still thinks he is a state sensator from Illinois. All politics is local. He’s trying to pay off his campaign buddies. Imagine Bush traveling overseas during the Iraq War to try and win the Olympics for Houston. This is UNBELIEVABLE.

Ah, he can't make decisions to send more troops to the sandbox, can't keep his hands off health INSURANCE (not healthCARE, liberal mouth-breathers), so when the going gets tough, what does he do? A long weekend with 'Chelle checking out the hookers and hash bars.

Is it too late to bring back Carter? Zero is giving Peanut Boy a run for his money in the worst president ever category.

The very next day,the headline in huge bold type....

“Was it something I said, FAT BOY?”

New York should have hosted the Olympics. But the liberal nut jobs who live here did not want to put up with the traffic or the building of new arenas in wasteland/urban blighted areas. New York Left wingers are Luddite kooks.

Chicago 2016 Olympics: Bid team member has ties to prospective Olympic Village developer

A key member of Mayor Richard Daley's Olympic committee has a long business relationship with a developer vying to build the billion-dollar Olympic Village, the grandest piece of Chicago's plans for the 2016 Summer Games.

Chicago 2016 committee member Michael Scott also served as a consultant to the developer on a condominium project near the proposed athletes village, a development that would increase in value if the city wins the Olympics.

Scott, who negotiated key components of the $1.2 billion Olympic Village plan, said his business relationship with the developer, Gerald Fogelson, does not interfere with his role with the bid team. Chicago 2016 officials declined to say whether Scott's relationship with Fogelson was a problem, with Daley's Olympic team poised to spend billions of dollars in coming years.

~~~~~~~~
If it happens, the scope of the corruption and blatant billions parceled out to the favored will dwarf anything ever seen before.
