They don’t hold Union cards, so no benefits for them. Of course, they were only defending our country — not doing something really important like producing junk cars that nobody wants.
With that said - why were these benefits to the Alaskans not passed when Bush and the GOP were in power? Or was it in the works and just now got through and too late Obama and the Dems are in charge?
PS: The veterans benefits to the merchant marines has been declined by both Repubs and Dems.

We can fund Ted Kennedy’s bullsh*t, ACORN, spend untold thousand on Obama’s dates and his wife’s produce stand visits, but not to continue pensions for 26 men who served in WWII?
Do the men and women in the Guard, who get deployed to war, have their time in the service counted toward the 20 years? I would hope so. I’d hate to think someone got called up, spent 2 years in Iraq, and it didn’t qualify toward the 20 years service.
Pensions are for unions..and congress.....

26 men. TWENTY SIX!!!! The big, ugly, hunk of sh8t that calls herself first lady(what a joke)will spend more on the Copenhagen trip that it would cost to give pensions to 1000 times that many.
So, once again, Native Alaskans get the shaft from the U.S. Federal Government: up until 1963, Native Alaskans, whether Orthodox Christians or adherents of an older ancestral religions, had their children taken from them by the Federal Government and sent to protestant boarding schools, and now 26 Native Alaskans who should be getting military pensions for their service to the country given honorably, in spite of that maltreatment, are being denied those pensions why? So the worst spend-thrift to occupy the Oval Office (eclipsing even his predecessor and FDR) can make show of saving money?
Maybe Native Alaskans should decry the racism of this decision.
We have been told that the President’s healtcare plan will not lead to rationing. We have been told that he would never cut off the elderly’s medical benefits to save a few bucks. “How could you even think that the President would ever do such a thing?” we have been asked. Only Republicans would be so cold-hearted and cruel. In fact, many supporters of the President, including his cheerleaders in the state run media, have called those who have said that such things were possible under his healtcare plan are all “liars.”
And yet, Mr. Obama cuts off pension benefits to 26 WWII vets and denied the applications of 37 more WWII vets, to save a few bucks. Actions speak louder than words, Mr. President. Give us a reason to believe your claims that you would never ration healthcare and restore the pensions of these brave veterans who deserve far better than the treatment you have given them.
