More cuts coming.
The job-cut knife is again being brandished at New York Times Co., as the struggling newspaper publisher prepares to launch another round of employee buyouts to further trim costs.
The Times told its biggest union that it is willing to offer buyouts rather than laying off workers because members had "stepped up" to help the paper earlier this year by agreeing to a temporary pay cut proposed by management.
The New York Newspaper Guild said in a memo to members that the Times promised to honor their agreement and end the 5 percent pay cut on Jan. 1. The Times imposed a similar pay cut on non-union workers but didn't say whether it would restore their pay.

Is there any truth to the rumor that the “New York Times” is being bought out by the “Staten Island Frugal Shopper and Coupon Clipper”?

Idunno...but, at the local hoity-toity upscale market (currently the only place to get bagels nearby, owing to a fire at the more down-to-earth place), there's a big framed reprint of an article done by the Times on how the proprietor's fish are authentic wild salmon or something like that. Anyway, accompanying the screed is a big photo of the guy holding a big fish -- I presume it's a salmon -- and it's laying in an open copy of the Post.
Ha ha on you, Times. Pride goes before _________.

Somebody should organize a grand tea party in front of NYT building when it happens.

Obama better hurry with that bailout money, or his favorite propaganda organ will be out of business.

Maureen Dowd,I hope your favorite color is pink!
To: Dr. Ursus
I think Frank Rich should get the pink slip first.
The guy is more annoying than Maureen.

Hoping Fox News gets the video of the upcoming day when Maureen Dowd and Frank Rich are leaving the building with their meager belongings in a box complete with half dead or fake desk plant.

If this were a real company rather than a publicly subsidized family-owned and controlled corporation,
Mr Sulzberger and his incestuous family in the Times publishing operation would be long gone. However, being that they own voting control of the operation, I take moderate glee every time I mail back a NYTimes solicitation stuffed with ridicule. I help subsidize the feeble USPS with private money from their decreasing revenue base.
