DA: No charges for Hofstra gang-rape accuser
September 25, 2009 By ANN GIVENS ann.givens@newsday.com
The Hofstra University student who prosecutors say falsely accused five men of tying her up and gang-raping her in a dormitory bathroom will not face criminal charges as long as she admits she lied, gets psychological help and does 250 hours of community service, under an agreement she signed Friday with the Nassau County district attorney's office.

If she were white she would have been charged!

I read the argument for not punishing her severely and it made sense. It would discourage other false accusers from recanting.

How do you know she wasn’t? I always thought she was - that’s why they never showed her identity ...

She only recanted because she was caught on tape. She’d still be lying but for that.

How about a large billboard with her picture and warning to other unsuspecting guys? Heck, community service might be with ACORN.

That is a good point. Especially with the number of these false accusations that we are seeing these days.

I say we bring back the stocks. Have an ample supply of tomatoes that for $5.00 each may be hurled at the wench. All proceeds go to the local children’s hospital.

Good point. Unintended consequences.
Its more important, in this case, that the innocent are protected than the guilty prosecuted.
