Video: Joe Scarborough goes after Glenn Beck (I don’t care if the right-wing nuts get upset at me)

A choice cut of red meat to unite the tribes after last night’s civil war over Beck and Levin. Sneer at Scarborough if you like but all he’s doing in calling out people like Romney is anticipating a future media strategy against the GOP’s presidential contenders — i.e. amassing the kookiest or most incendiary stuff that Beck’s said and then putting them on the spot by asking them to denounce it. (Democrats are never asked to denounce Olbermann’s crap, of course, although that may be because no one watches Olbermann.) It’s the same shtick they pulled with Republican congressional leaders earlier this year vis-a-vis Limbaugh’s “I want him to fail” comment, but they’ll adapt it to GB going forward because (a) his exploding TV ratings make him a bigger media story than Rush, (b) he’s a richer vein than Rush for oddball material that can be used against the GOP, like that weird analysis of communist symbolism at 30 Rock from a few weeks ago, and (c) by hammering Beck they get to take a shot at Fox too. Why all Republicans should be asked to distance themselves from a guy who’s neither conservative nor Republican himself, nor even sure that he’d have voted for John McCain over Hillary Clinton, isn’t clear to me, but we’re talking politics here, not logic.

You won’t be surprised to hear that Matthews was pushing this same meme on “Hardball” tonight, replacing the call for “grown-ups” to denounce Beck with a call to denounce talk radio more generally. Say what you will about MSNBC but they know how to hit a talking point.

Glenn Beck, in that video says that between Hillary, Obama and McCain, if these were the only choices, Hillary would be the least evil of the three.

And here’s what Beck said — between Obama and McCain, Obama was the lesser evil.

Watch the video.

"here’s what Beck said — between Obama and McCain, Obama was the lesser evil"

That's just stupid. I hope there's more context to his rant than that.

Beck is the kind of character who does well the further from an election year you are but is NOT to be taken seriously the closer to election you get. If you DO take him seriously, you end up with someone like Ross Perot.

Mark Levin is a major contirbutor to conservatism and must be taken seriously all the time.

Joe Scarborough? I can’t place him. He’s....?

We need more Becks.

You mean we need more people who believe that the following are ranked from least worse to worst ? :

1. HILLARY
2. Obana
3. McCain

That's what he said. Beck sometimes tries to outdo himself with shock value rants. Mccain is an old fool but he would be 1000 time better than Obama or Hildebeast.

Talking points won't make up for a bad economy or weak foreign policy. MSNBC is a broadcasting ratings joke compared to Fox.

I suspect Scarborough is envious of Beck's success.

Essentially, McCain was better regarding several key issues, such as abortion, but on balance we would have gotten much of the same things with McCain that we are now getting with obama...only without the outrage or the 912 march on DC.

With obama, we conservatives of all political stripes are awake, paying attention and pissed off. With McCain we would have ignored it or even defended it as we did with GWB. In my opinion, McCain would have been the death of the republican party, whereas obama might revive it.

This is a bunch of BS. Go listen to Beck explain on his website. Beck is right! McCain is a Progressive...he is NOT a conservative and he would have lulled the Conservatives into another 4 years of inaction so that this country would be totally fascist with the same Obamacare, same Fairness Doctrine, same ACORN organization, bailouts, amnesty, etc etc. ;;.....he used the frog in boiling water analogy and he is right!

Forget about Beck for a moment and digest AllahPundit’s excellent analysis, which is the real story. Folks, MSNBC is playing the same old game here of trying to separate Republicans from conservatives. It backfired on them with Limbaugh (even though Steele took the bait initially), but with Beck I bet some @ss clown like Romney, McCain or Pawlenty is going to get suckered and make some stupid statement about the need to “remain above the fray” and distance themselves from Beck. If I was a Republican running for POTUS and the state-run media asked me about Beck, I would simply say Beck has a 1st Amendment right to his views and leave it at that. These “Macaca” moments are killing the GOP.

If you don't take him seriously you end up with the likes of Van Jones and ACORN running the Country. Beck has actually had a positive affect on our current government. Levin and the other conservative "thinkers" have not.
