ACORN filed suit today in Maryland against conservative filmmakers James OKeefe, Hannah Giles and conservative Web site Breitbart.com for secretly taping the organizations employees at its Baltimore office.
In the complaint, ACORN alleges that the filmmakers entered into the organizations offices in July with a hidden camera and microphone and taped employees Tonja Thompson and Shera Williams. Both employees are listed as plaintiffs on the complaint, filed in the Circuit Court for Baltimore City.
ACORN is seeking $500,000 for each employee and $1 million for the organization in damages.
Not the smartest move by ACORN.
Positively delicious...can’t wait to see this shake out.
1. ACORN was operating without a license in aryland.
2. Do they really want discovery?
If someone had done this with Madoff they’d be up for a medal.
“ACORN files suit against filmmakers”
Discovery ought to be fun!
Great idea ACORN - let’s get this into a courtroom so we can exercise discovery on ALL of your operations......
ITEM New Orleans is one of ACORN'S three national hdq located at 2609 Canal St. and 2610 Iberville St, New Orleans. (Washington, DC, and NYC are the other two).
ITEM Now Louisiana AG Bobby Caldwell has subpoenaed ACORN, former ACORN head Wade Rathke, and the group's bank, Whitney Bank.......seeking information back to 1998 on ACORN and some 361 tax-exempt and non-tax-exempt outfits in its universe.
ITEM At the Orleans Parish Clerk of Courts Office, a Sept. 3 IRS filing showed that "Elysian Fields Corp, Inc, (Alter Ego of ACORN)" skipped 5 quarterly withholding-tax payments -- for income, Soc/Sec and Medicare levies in 2005-08, and made no federal unemployment-tax payments for the fourth quarters of 2007 and 2008.
ITEM Citizens Consulting, Inc--ACORN's bookkeeping arm, details 66 withholding-tax payments that Citizens Consulting skipped in 2002-08, totaling more than $300,000 (online at pelicaninstitute.org.)
ITEM ACORN Housing Corp got HUD govt dollars supposedly to combat the "mortgage foreclosure crisis."

ACORN runs a cabal of tax-exempt, non-profits (which the IRS has designated as the locus classicus for money laundering and tax evasion). We need to put ACORN'S liberal tax-exempt, non-profit groups under the IRS microscope.

ITEM --- ALSO FIGURING IN ALL OF THIS:
(1) Dale and Wade Radke, brothers who run ACORN clone, SEIU (Dale embezzled $1M from ACORN--no action was taken).
(2) The Apollo Alliance (exposed by Glenn Beck as the hidden hand that wrote Congress' trillion dollar stimulus bill). The AA is a coalition of labor, business, environmental, and community leaders working to catalyze a clean energy revolution.
As if it wasn’t interesting enough.....
I am a cynic: Wonder if the courts are too stacked for justice to be done?
The state of Maryland should be utterly ashamed of itself for allowing this type of suit. Simply ridiculous!
What a stupid move on the part of ACORN. I am salivating at the thought of what discovery will show! Emotional distress!... Right, they got caught and now their empty emperor offers Ropes and Chains (in unemployment) not Hope and Change! They do not qualify for benefits ...
Naturally this would be filed in the People’s Republic of Maryland. ACORN knows a sympathetic environment when they see it.
Yeah...go get those 20 year old kids...put ‘em in jail. How dare they expose the criminality of the left.
If Sixty Minutes did this...they’d win an emmy. But of course Sixty Minutes would only do something like this against someone presummed to be on the right.
That’s probably the dumbest move I’ve seen in awhile.
Can these idiots understand that suing people like Fox, like Murdoch, like these kids leads lots of facts that get out in the open that ACORN and their ilk would like to hide.
Go for it, DUmmies. Discovery can be a blast.
Nother like shining a light on cockroaches.
If ACORN was the fine, upstanding organization they claim to be, filing this lawsuit would be the last thing they would do.
Does ACORN have to open it’s books in the discovery affidavit?
So, when 20/20 goes undercover and does the same thing, they can be sued too?
Oh, wait - they’re liberal. Never mind.

I guess none of that matters. /S
