H. R. 3200 Will Collapse Global Medicine
RealClearMarkets ^ | Sept. 23, 2009 | Wendy Milling

H.R. 3200 would enact a series of synergistic causal sequences. This would start with an instantaneous increase in demand as new consumers enter the system or existing consumers demand more medical goods and services.

Clinics, practices, and hospitals currently rely on higher private insurance payouts to make up for the low reimbursement rates from Medicare. Under the new system, they would not receive it, either from the government plan or the private insurers. The government will not pay it. Insurance companies, required to cover pre-existing conditions, maintain coverage unconditionally, and cap premiums, will have no choice but to cut payments to providers.

This would quickly cut the profit margins of medical providers to unsustainable lows or convert them into losses. Many will go out of business in the short term, even if their industry representatives in Washington see no problem with conceding $150 billion "as an industry" to the government. This means a decreased supply of medical care.

“Clinics, practices, and hospitals currently rely on higher private insurance payouts to make up for the low reimbursement rates from Medicare.”

This is the main reason I think that Medicaid and medicare (government programs) are driving up the cost of private health care.

The FedGov is asking to solve a problem it created. This is a common tactic to incrementally gain power.

I am still convinced this is the goal - to drive the world economy into a hole and cause global revolt.

Well done.

One part glossed over though was the interim period where insurance companies will have huge cost increases due to mandated coverages and accepting pre-existing conditions. This will result in many more employers dumping coverage and choosing the 8% cap. This will then put more people “in search” of coverage in the private market, which will continue to spiral upward in cost.

Not only will health care providers begin to exit the system, so too will the insurers.

A fantastic article from 1993 from philosopher and Ayn Rand Institute founder Leonard Peikoff. Health Care is not a Right.

Must Read!

Dems have stated in the past that, under the public option, 90% of specialists would not be needed. The retirement intent is already planned for, all they way down to those early in practice.

The article is so devastatingly clear and has such an indisputable premise that it's terrifying.

My general doctor wanted to perform a sigmoid scope procedure. The alternative procedure was a colonoscopy. The colonoscopy covers the entire length of the colon and has an instrument to remove small polyps. In addition, the patient receives a sedative to ease the discomfort. The sigmoid scope covers only half of the colon without any ability to remove polyps. In addition, there is no sedative.

Can you guess which procedure I chose? Without specialists, would I be required to give my general doctor a crack at my colon?

Without private specialists, which includes the specialty of family practice, one might not even have a doctor at all in the future execpt for those employed and unionized at a future regional hospital.

General Practitioners were never allowed to have a specialty Board of their own, and so, are not allowed hospital privileges, are small in number, and are dying out anyway.

Underlying all the apporved specialties is a desire by corporations, and, increasingly by govt., that they increasingly meet corporate demands, not public demands.

Under Hillarycare, Medical schools were to discourage and limit the amount of specialists, forcing more med students into primary care, which very few would choose. Less pay for all those years of school. So the government bribes doctors by paying for school in exchange for two years in underserved communities. Once they free themselves, they are gone from those communities. Once a physician becomes a government employee, which is what will happen under all these plans, can you say POST OFFICE??? Those guys are super efficient, cost saving, wonderfully happy employees!!!
