If you take the H1N1 FluMist, you will in fact become a carrier of the H1N1 flu. Information on this drug states that you can and will shed the virus for up to 21 days. That means as you are visiting with your elderly family members, or shopping in the isles of your grocery store or sitting in church with young children and people with immune problems, YOU are going to be shedding the virus H1N1 germs.

Isles in a sea of...?
Never let a crisis or potential crisis go to waste.
This is interesting. We get our shot or nasal mist next Thursday....Mando for all military...FUN!!!
Sorry....It might just be mando for military stationed overseas...statesiders might be safe....for now.
I guess you may be right! I’ve read a few of these articles and it sounds like this is the perfect way to give the whole darned country the flu. But, I’m not a doctor and I don’t play one on the Internet.
Langerhans
Conceivably the at-risk adults would already be inoculated when the kids got their spray but how much do you want to bet that availability gets the sequence reversed. "Whoops, our bad. We'll do better next time. But hey, SocSec and Medicare are looking pretty good now."
Lovely. No-one has answered for me, anyway, why I would want to get vaccines for something we might have already had. (Whole family has a flu-like illness right now.)
LOL, I had to read that a couple of times to figure
“what the hell is that”? Good one
Sure. Just like you can/could for Gulf War Syndrome. Oh, wait a sec... that doesn't officially exist.
I know that people with asthma are not to take the yearly flumist vaccine. One of my daughters and I have asthma. I’m also wondering how this affects people with epilepsy because my other daughter has epilepsy.
I can understand your dilemma. I wish someone with some knowledge of this would get on here and fill us both in.
Maybe not a good time to schedule your annual checkup.
The H1N1 Flu is being hyped in order to push the Obama heath care plan.
I have listened to several medical researchers and read articles that concluded that for most people the H1N1 is milder than the regular seasonal flu. Where H1N1 is more severe than regular flu is with those people who have comprimised immune systems, existing conditions or cronic conditions, very young, and elderly. THese are the same people who are more at risk for seasonal flu also, but H1N1 has shown a higher risk of pneumonia than seasonal flu in these groups.
This article says the vaccine won't be available until 2 to 3 weeks after FluMist is made available. So the order is purposeful... Jesus.
Now, they are supposed to be using a weakened version of the virus in FluMist. I hope that means unprotected people won't catch it from FluMist users. But who knows? Not me.
Did you read my earlier posts. My daughter has epilepsy, and the death rate for epileptics for H1N1 is twice that of normal flu. The kids dying are ones with neurological impairments. I’m keeping close tabs on this virus.
The H1N1 nasal spray vaccine is based on a live attenuated virus that provokes the immune system but does not result in a normal swine flu infection. A live attenuated virus would not be used unless it were shown that anyone who gets the virus due to retransmission would get the attenuated version, not the dangerous wild type of the virus.
