Give credit where credit is due. The Zero did something good. But since he lies all the time I’m sure the Pelosi’s have a back door ready.

I took fire fighting and damage control training at Treasure Island. In those days fire fighting was done without breathing aparatus. Cough cough choke.
If the Navy is going to give the island to a city they should give it to Yreka or somewhere just to keep it out of liberal hands.

I hear you...It looks like enough people are fighting this giveaway that it may be stopped. Having Zer0 against it might help some but I’m not convinced.

The Navy has appraised the cost at $240 million, while San Francisco appraised it at $14 million. The city recently commissioned an independent appraisal by auditor KPMG that concluded the value was $22 million, which the city offered to pay to the Navy.BS. The only way to determine the market value is to put it up for public auction.
Why should the U.S. give away property when the national deficit is so high?

I about choked when I read that $22 million figure, the view from the island alone is worth more than that.
Hat tip to Political Junkie Too for the pic of Treasure Island.

Taxpayers have already forfeited these lands so bases could be built, Farr said in a statement when he introduced his legislation earlier this year. The two parties have been at a stalemate over Treasure Island, a Navy base that closed in 1993, sits atop a man-made island in San Francisco Bay...
No "taxpayers... forfeited these lands" to build Treasure Island. As the article said, it was man-made on landfill.

Don’t be silly. Do you actually think Obama is going to just give away land that would make an EXCELLENT reeducation camp?

If San Francisco is true to it’d own wacko environment beliefs it would pay to have this MAN MADE island returned to it’s natural state. Or maybe a sanctuary for harbor seals.
To: jazusamo
The TI base belongs to the TAXPAYERS!! It is NOT Pelousy’s personal playground NOR is it zero’s to determine how it should be handled.
If they can’t figure it out (and I hate to say this) it should be sold at a reasonable price to either Alameda or Berserkly. SF shouldn’t even be in the discussion.
