She's smart. She's experienced. She's worldly. Republican strategists worried about their party's future should take heed. ___ Successful candidates follow a simple fundamental rule: Define yourself before your opponent can define you. The Republican Party, which mustered a thumbs-up from only 38% of voters in last week's Bloomberg poll, sorely needs to brush up on the very rule it counsels in candidate-training sessions.
To skeptics in search of a political home, the GOP's image has devolved into that of a minority collection of name-calling, "no"-saying, backward-looking, talk-show bullying cranks -- a definition gleefully perpetuated by Democratic pols. So next time the eloquent and elegant figure of Condoleezza Rice strides onto a stage, GOP strategists worried about their party's future should pull out their notebooks.
I interviewed Rice onstage last week on the closing day of Fortune's Most Powerful Women's Summit, where she achieved a star-turn -- and did so while mounting a vigorous defense of former President Bush's oft-vilified foreign policy, and delivering a pointed critique of President Obama and congressional Democrats.

"It's that simple," she declared, "if you want another terrorist attack in the U.S., abandon Afghanistan."

i love condi
I think that, instead of hammering on the GOP = racist theme, both the media and the GOP would be better served looking into just why one proved to be far different than advertised and why the other simply never seemed to want another step up.
Keep in mind, I did not write the headline to this.
We are required to post the actual headline of stories that are posted.
The headline has nothing to do with the article or the embedded inteview. To those just responding to the headline, you’re missing the actual content.
The interview embedded in this link is very worthwhile listening to. I recommend it.
Condi is, uuuuuuuuuuh, the uuuuuuuuuh, worst, uuuuuuuuuuuhh, speaker, uuuuuuuuuuuuuuh, that I uuuuuuuuuuuhhh, have ever uuuuuuuuuuuh, heard.
Uuuuuuuuuuuuuh, pass.
When CNN endorses a person for the GOP, they MUST be laced with arsenic or cyanide.
Rice? No thank you. If people like her remain the “face of the GOP”, I know I’ll no longer vote Republican.
She’s smart. She’s serious. She wants Israel to give away everything to the Palestinians.
It’s always amusing to see who liberals prefer as the “face” of the Republican party.
She also has a horn on her NOSE... Aunt Esther imitating John McLame..
PS it is a great statement, though. Full props to Condi for making it.
I love her too, but recognize she like colon has never faced an electorate. Meaning her views are unknown until she subjects them to a population. I believe she is from CA, it would be a good time for a competent conservative to run for something in CA (i.e., Senate, Congress, State Governor, etc...) My guess is she is an administrator not a legislator.
Is this really from The Onion?
She was a total failure as Secretary Of State.
But then it is the new philosophy to reward failure and punish success.
And Neo-Republicans want to be with the latest fads, right?
Thomas Sowell would be a great choice to head the RNC!
I don’t agree with Condi on a good many things, but she could teach that piece of sh*t Powell a thing or two about loyalty. I haven’t heard her trash Bush or anybody else in the administration since she’s left. She gets points for that from me.
If she were pro-life, maybe. Sadly, she has described herself a mildly pro-baby killing...I mean choice.
and look for mushroom clouds in Iraq?
Shut up Nina.
The intellectual elite have put us in the crapper....they make their living off of stealing our earnings.
They should all retire.......hang.
I think she had the inside information that the fix for the illegal alien usurper in the W.H. was in. Therefore she had no chance and no interests of running!!!
I’m happy for Condi to be a face of the GOP. She’s more moderate than the base, but I’ve never heard her diss conservatives. If moderates want to be part of the GOP, that’s fine, but they should understand that the folks who actually VOTE are much more likely to be conservative. Of course, that fact is what most drives the MSM nuts!
