The Washington Posts editors are understandably nervousObama is wavering, perhaps crumbling before their eyes, on Afghanistan. They note that, not so long ago, he was sounding George W. Bushlike in his determination to prevail. But no more:
So it was a little startling to hear Mr. Obama suggest in several televised interviews on Sunday that he had second thoughts. We are in the process of working through that strategy, [he] said on CNN. The first question is . . . are we pursuing the right strategy? On NBC he said, if supporting the Afghan national government and building capacity for their army and securing certain provinces advances that strategy of defeating al-Qaeda, then well move forward. But if it doesnt, then Im not interested in just being in Afghanistan for the sake of being in Afghanistan.
The presidents doubts come at a crucial moment. He has just received a report from the commander he appointed, Gen. Stanley A. McChrystal, saying the United States and its allies are in danger of losing the war if they do not work more effectively to shore up the Afghan government and army and protect the population from insurgents. Gen. McChrystal, along with his seniors in Washington, believe that this counterinsurgency strategy is the only route to success, and that it will require a commitment of substantial additional resources, including thousands more U.S. troops next year.

Like I said before, ZERO has a short memory—one day it’s this, next day it’s that...no worries—just go in reverse and don’t blink an eye.
“We always knew 0bummer was a Cut-and-Run-Liberal. Just like the rest. The goal of Leftism is the complete destruction of Western Civilization.”
These words can’t be repeated enough, because they are so true.
This is something that GOP politicians needs to understand when they think they can negotiate with these scum.

Very un-Presidential in my opinion. This rookie goes on TV and waffles thru his thought process. Then the meglomania comes out: “I’m not interested in...”
Whatever happened to presidents with balls who said things like “It shall be the policy of the United States that...?
“Even if he cant stomach disappointing the left wing of his own party, someone in his administration must surely realize that a second reversal of this magnitude will only cement his image as a Jimmy Carteresque figureweak, irresolute, and easily manipulatedand invite endless challenges to the U.S. After all, if hes going to back down whenever someone screams loudly, there will be a lot of very loud screaming.”
“weak, irresolute, and easily manipulated” says it all. The unfortunate thing about electing an incompetent this young is that once he is tossed out in 2012, we will have to endure DECADES of Jimmy Carter-esque pontifications from him on all manner of policy issues. But I will feel far safer when he is pontificating from Chicago rather than the Oval Office.
0bama is making the case that George W. Bush was not such a bad president after all, by contrast.
President Bush never waivered, and he succeeded in Iraq when all of his detractors had already written it off as a failure.
Good article. Too bad the typical Obama supporter doesn’t have the brain power to understand the article.
Joe Wilson was right!
Changing tagline.
Either way he looks alike an ass. He loses a war he claimed a necessity or he tries to win and angers a great many of his supporting kooks.
If he bails ya figure Pakistan, Afghanistan and how many other states come under the influence of Iran?
And just when is Saudi Arabia going to go against Iran for real?
Fun & games.
Good Point...He looks like an ass even without this additional cluster f@#k, but good point just the same.
Like a Kenyan Birth Certificate?
Bull, meet china shop.
