The government is investigating a major insurance company for allegedly trying to scare seniors with a mailer warning they could lose important benefits under health care legislation in Congress.
The Health and Human Services Department launched its investigation of Humana after getting a complaint from Sen. Max Baucus, D-Mont., a senior lawmaker usually viewed as a reliable ally of the insurance industry.
"It is wholly unacceptable for insurance companies to mislead seniors regarding any subject particularly on a subject as important to them, and to the nation, as health care reform," Baucus said Monday, disclosing the HHS investigation.

“It is wholly unacceptable for insurance companies to mislead seniors regarding any subject particularly on a subject as important to them, and to the nation, as health care reform,” Baucus said...
That’s the government’s job.
He evidently feels that insurance companies are infringing on his exclusive right to mislead seniors on health care... The mob hates it when others try to muscle in on their territory, huh...
humana tells the truth....Baucus is a scumbag.
Keep seniors in the dark about how Medicare Advantage is going away.
Investigate AARP while they are at it. They have completely sold out seniors to line their own pockets.
Not only Advantage but Part D is most likely going away.
Next, they'll investigate AARP for the same thing (opposite direction, though). Riiight.
I didn’t know HHS had an investigation wing. Will they water board insurance execs?
YO BAUCUS ... which part of “CONGRESS SHALL MAKE NO LAW...” are you TOO STUPID to UNDERSTAND..
I’d love to see an actual copy of the mailing. As an employee of an evil health insurance company, the proper way to go about this sort of mailing is a stuffer with the following notification:
“As [Company name] awaits the outcome of legislation pending in Congress, we would like to inform you that your Medicare Advantage coverage under [Company name] may have significant coverage changes or be suddenly terminated based upon the outcome. Please refer to [website] for more information and updates.”
That way, it’s nothing more than the standard benefit change mailings with a twist—we don’t have any say in it.
Democrats do it every election cycle in Florida
I also have a supplement a $24 per month. No prescription coverage.
Every time I walk in someplace, it costs me out of my pocket, too.
So, I'm guessing. Here's the plan. Everything will be mandatory....and they will be taking half my SS check by the time theY'RE done....
iF i HAVE ANY KIND OF mEDICAL DEBT...THEY'LL SIMPLY CONFISCATE FUNDS OUT OF MY SS.
excellent
what a chilling group of idiots the USA now has trying to control our nation. Can’t figure out if this is more like 1933 Germany or 1918 Russia
The list, ping
“Leading health reform proposals being considered in Washington, D.C., this summer include billions in Medicare Advantage funding cuts, as well as spending reductions to original Medicare and Medicaid. While these programs need to be made more efficient, if the proposed funding cut levels become law, millions of seniors and disabled individuals could lose many of the important benefits and services that make Medicare Advantage health plans so valuable.”
What part of that isn’t TRUE?!
******
The Humana mailer focused squarely on the Medicare Advantage program.
It urged seniors to sign up with Humana for regular updates on the health care legislation, and encouraged them to contact their lawmakers in Washington.
In a warning letter to Humana, HHS said the government is concerned that the mailer “is misleading and confusing” partly because the company’s lobbying campaign could be mistaken for an official communication about Medicare benefits.
HHS ordered the company to immediately halt any such mailings, and remove any related materials from its Web site. In the letter, the government also said it may take other action against Humana.

GET OUT OF OUR LIVES, OBAMA, ET AL!!! I think we can figure out who is telling the truth. You only want people to hear ONE SIDE of this argument...YOURS!
Humana didn’t have to warn me about Medicare Advantage being eliminated. I saw Obama say it on television.
Feds order private company to pull criticism of Obama from its web site.
P.S. See my tagline that is now several months old
