For much of 2008, the TV cognoscenti assumed that Katie Couric would be anywhere but in the CBS Evening News anchor chair by now
But despite some of the lowest ratings in the newscasts history, she says she will remain there until her contract expires in 2011. Borrowing from Mark Twain, she said cheerfully in a recent interview, I think reports of my death were greatly exaggerated.

"Taped against a black background, her new interview Web show may remind some of Charlie Rose, the PBS interview program. Her first guest is the popular and controversial Fox News Channel host Glenn Beck. Interviews with former Vice President Al Gore and the actor Hugh Jackman are to follow.
Why would Beck appear on Couric's show. Libertarians and Conservatives shouldn't do anything that can prolong Big Media's death spiral into the abyss of irrelevancy.
Incidentally, I wonder if the New York Times has ever described Olberdork as the "controversial MSNBC host"? Just saying.
And who is footing the bill since she has such “Low Ratings” and draws in little advertising?
Who watches Katie? 65 plus liberals.
Her numbers are down more than 20% since January. I’m sure top management at CBS would can her, if it could do so legally.
I haven’t watched the CBS News regularly since 1977.
I wouldn't put Soros past financing the entire compliant media.
Glenn Beck should start asking her questions about what it is like to be going down on the TITANIC known as evening network news. Maybe Glenn can hire her as an intern in a few years.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Jim Nantz would be perfect for The CBS Evening News. He’s a moderate, very friendly, very likeable, very popular and easily recognized from his years at CBS Sports. But, due to his friendship with the Bush family, I’m sure upper management at CBS News would never entertain the possibility. Too bad.
Yeah, that endorsement sounds like the one a team owner says about an 0-16 coach. If BOR’s show gets any closer with the ratings as Katie Kutie has, she’s gone.
That's a great, great idea. I've never heard it before. I like Nantz. His book about his dad was quite enjoyable, and he does seem to be a much more moderately thinking man - which is unusual in the world of sports journalism.
If both Couric and Brokaw (and now Sawyer) can come from the highly "entertainment oriented" morning shows to host their respective evening news broadcasts, why can't Nantz come from sports?
If Nantz was named as Couric’s successor I would definitely give the CBS Evening News a try.
[But despite some of the lowest ratings in the newscasts history, she says she will remain there until her contract expires in 2011.]
She obviously superglued her butt to the anchor chair and now they’d have to pry her off with a forklift to remove her.
katie who???
Borrowing from Mark Twain, Couric said cheerfully in a recent interview, I think reports of my death were greatly exaggerated.
Encouraged by the hyena-like response of her lackeys & print-cronies to this witticism, she further borrowed from General Douglas McArthur and stated perkily, “We lady news cougars don’t die, we just smell that way!”
After a few moments of dead silence, she bit her lip and ran off to have a good cry.
The one who used to end her broadcasts chirping her perky trademark, "Death To Amerika"
Remember now, that time when we watched her once?
She’s a news reader plain and simple.
