Actually, this fits in somewhat with Mark Steyn’s comment, that where socialism is introduced, its a one-way ticket and conservatives in those countries are reduced to promising to administer it more effeciently than the other guys.
In most socialist countries, which is to say most of Europe, conservatism is not only different in kind from American “classic liberal” conservatism but is also a pale bloodless imitation even of itself.
