Description of New York Big Event: Come join the Yes Men and a large coalition of activists in some massive plans to save the world on Monday, September 21 in New York City
It could make a really big difference, and it'll be tons of fun. We can't guarantee making history - but we're sure going to try.
It'll take as much or as little of your time as you like - even just a few minutes. And when 100 world leaders meet the next day, you may have helped set the tone for real progress on climate change.
Here is the email that I received regarding their "New York Big Event" (newyorkbigevent.com)
TOMORROW MORNING (MONDAY), something very big, very funny-looking, very silly, and very... serious is going to happen. And you're going to be part of it!
Here is the schedule, which starts at 4am - that's FOUR in the MORNING. Come as early as you can - but if you can't get there at 4am, it goes on till 9am!
4am: SPECIAL OPERATIONS DETAIL - THREE LOCATIONS in Manhattan depending on your birthday!
If your birthday falls between Jan. 1 and April 30, go to: 1 Time Warner Center, Columbus Circle, Broadway & 60th St., south side
If your birthday falls between May 1 and Aug. 30, go to: 30 Rockefeller Plaza, 50th Street between 5th and 6th Ave.
If your birthday falls between Sept. 1 and Dec. 31, go to: The Empire State Building, 33rd Street between 5th and 6th Avenue
6am-10am MAIN EVENT, NINE LOCATIONS in New York City
Pick one that suits you, but off the beaten path, please (i.e. not all Union Square please).
* UN Headquarters - 2nd Ave. and E. 41st Street, SE corner (subway: 4-5-6 Grand Central)
* Grand Central - E. 42nd St. and Lexington, SW corner (subway: 4-5-6 Grand Central)
* Penn Station - W. 33rd Street between 7th and 8th Ave., nearer to 7th Ave. (subway: A-C-E-1-2-3 Penn Station)
* Columbus Circle - corner of 58th and 8th Ave., NW side (subway: 1-A-B-C-D, Columbus Circle)
* Wall Street area - just north of 20 Broad Street, near Wall Street (subway: JMZ Broad Street or 4-5 Wall Street)
* Atlantic Ave. (BROOKLYN) subway stop, on the corner of Ashland and Hansen Place
* Staten Island Ferry building - northwest corner of State Street and Whitehall Street (subway: 1, South Ferry station)
* World Trade Center - Church and Barclay, SE corner (subway: E or Path to WTC, 4-5 Fulton Street)
* Union Square - northwest side, near 17th Street

ADDITIONAL EVENTS DURING THE DAY
8:45am-10am One Bryant Park (6th Ave. @ 41st Street): "Carbon Disclosure Project" At this event, which begins at 9am, a bunch of banks and other giant corporations will be trying to tell everyone what a wonderful job they're doing curtailing their CO2 emissions to save the planet. If past experience is any key, they'll also be saying that any legislative limits should be fully voluntary. Eeeeeeek. If we trust these guys, we're screwed!!
11am-noon: NY Public Library (5th Ave. @ 40th Street) - Climate Week Opening Ceremony, Tony Blair, presiding VIPs will arrive by 11:45. Bigwigs from the world's most influential countries and companies will announce to the world all the great things they're going to do as part of the United Nations Negotiation Process, to create critical momentum for the United Nations Climate Change Conference taking place less than 80 days later in Copenhagen. We need to make sure they all know what we need.
7pm evening, Age of Stupid premiere: 4 cinemas! Get tickets at AgeofStupid.net. The Yes Men will appear, along with a certain number of very rotund friends.
IF YOU WILL BE TAKING PHOTOS:
We would like to make your photos part of our near-instantaneous coverage. To help make that happen, please do the following:
* As soon as you can on Monday, upload your photos to your Flickr account.
* Tag your photos with newyorkbigevent (all one word, all lower case). If you can't do that, please visit http://newyorkbigevent.com/photos/ and upload your photos there. (This isn't set up yet, but will be set up on Monday.)
IF YOU WILL BE VIDEOTAPING:
We will need you most from 7AM to noon. See above for locations. Shoot what you like - but REACTIONS of passersby are the best. Feel free to ask passersby what they think of the whole thing, how it makes them feel, etc. After shooting, you can drop tapes off at any one of the locations. Be sure to label your tape with the format (DV, HDV, etc.) and any other pertinent info that will make it easier for editing and filing. If you want your tape back, please carefully label it with your name, address, email address, and phone number!

I don’t know. Hard to tell what “fun stuff” fascists can dream up. Maybe they will all dress in their swim suits to protest the warming. But wait, at 4 in a.m. in NYC it will be 55 degrees. Can’t wait for the fun! /s

“The Age of Stupid” is off-the-wall moonbattery. “Red” Ken Livingstone thinks everyone should be forcibly sat down in a chair and made to see this movie. (I didn’t need to tell you he’s British, did I?;) Earth will be devastated and there will be only one man left in 2055, due to global warming. Eek! That’s scary!/s

Then next weekend is the “Folsom Street Fair” in San Fran (sicko). I’m sure flicker will be full of perverted pics from that creepfest.
