You're right, he did. Rush has always maintained that he is correct 98.6% of the time. This was part of that 1.4%.
See my post #28.
In this case, all one had to do was read beyond the headline to clearly see it was parody.
Column title:
Conservative Christian Columnist Doug Giles Endorses Barack Obama
First two paragraphs:
. . . And in other news, Joan Rivers is slated to grace the cover of Playboys All Natural Edition, John Edwards is a lovely family man who has zero narcissistic bents, and the temperature in hell has just dropped below freezing.
Dont worry, conservative Christian: I havent T. D. Jaked into the Obama corner. Im just jacking with ya.
Hopefully, this link will work better than my first:

OK, thanks. Looks like Rush is going to have to make a correction :-)
“Once again showing that sarcasm isn’t a good way to express political opinion, especially in print. “
It’s not that tough. This was just a case of Limbaugh speaking before doing any homework.
btt
I read the article and I agree with you, but the fact is many people do not read beyond the headline. Apparently Rush didn't. There are a lot of profoundly stupid people out there. Sarcasm is beyond their comprehension.
Which means ... more to come.
That’s one proud pappa!
