I am a Patriot. I could never support the Cowboys. Or the Rangers. Seceed is you wish. I will carry on the battle here with my tri-corner hat and Red Sox.
There’s also the nullification option under the 10th amendment.
I noticed you used past tense, just the same. It is silly to contemplate, but I understand the sentiment. But Texans are just as guilty of letting the parties buy their votes with borrowed money for benefits and projects we wouldn’t pay for with our own money. It would be pretty chicken spoor to not go down with the ship.
HERE'S YOUR HOPE AND CHANGE!
how many liberals would commit suicide?
Probably not enough!
We can help ... like those suicide hotlines in Pakistan where they get excited and ask if you can drive a truck.
The Stars and Bars has a warm place in my heart, but it ain’t got anything to do with Texas secession.
SHERM, WE HAVE A WINNER!!!! Was it divine Providence that got us ready for the Soviets and their march toward world domination?
The two commies next door could just be driven over the edge if a seccession did occur. No one would miss them but they would still be voting dim though.
What a sweetcake!
I agree that seceding from the Union would be a bold step for Texas and very possibly the right one. The states have to solve this federal problem. Nobody else has “standing” to challenge the federal behemoth.
The drawback is the monsterous bill that will be handed to Texas. The feds will divide the national debt by the population of Texas and hand that bill to Austin. They’ll say those Texans were all U.S. citizens when the debt was incurred, so the debt is valid. Bummer.
I believe Canada talked about doing the same thing when Quebec separatists were on the move.
Oklahoma will secede along with Texas.
The “first” black ballplayer in Boston Red Sox history - the LAST team in MLB to integrate, ironically, was Jerry “Pumpsie” Green who played a few short and unremarkable years and was out of baseball entirely before he was 30, He can be found, though, in all of the history books because he was a “first” in what was considered a bigoted organization.
Ironically, Pumpsie had a brother, Cornell, who was a tremendous athlete, the 5 time Pro-Bowler for the Dallas Cowboys. He made five Pro Bowls at two different positions - cornerback and strong safety. Green never missed a game in 13 seasons with the Cowboys (1962-74) and played 168 games, including 145 consecutive starts for the Cowboys between 1962-1974.
Absent Obama’s general collegiate records, indicating his course work, written grade scores and SAT’s etc., we don’t know how smart this guy is ... but I’m going out on a limb and saying he is more like Pumpsie Green than Cornell Green...he’s just the “first” to come along...
I hear ya, but your living in the past. We are officially now a Banana Republic. America ain't nothing like it was in the 1800’s or even in the 1940’s.
Now its “what's in it for me!” and “I'm entitled to (fill in the blank)!”.
Don’t know about that, but Harry Turtledove wrote a whole series of books of alternate history in which the Confederacy won. In it the Union and Confederacy take opposite sides in WWI and WWII, so we get to fight those wars all over what is now the USA.
Pretty dystopic. Including the use of A-bombs on Richmond.
If you’re going to give God credit for anything good that has happened in history, you have to equally say he is the cause of anything bad that happened. I prefer to stay out of that particular quagmire.
As a native Texican, his post “I am an American and will fight my fellow Texan brethren to the death to keep my great state part of the best country the world has ever known., made me stop and think.
I love both America and Texas, like I love my children, no favorites and would defend either to the death, but if one goes off the wrong end (like the USA seems to be heading), I will have to choose one or the other.
It sure seems at this juncture that Texas stands the better chance at upholding freedom and liberty, but until the time comes when I have to choose, I will fight the demons attacking America to the death.
I’m pretty sure it’s from the immediate aftermath (like, within a week) of 9/11. I remember seeing it then.
I suggested the Lone Star flag.
