Joe Wilson was right

DEMOCRATS in the House of Representatives, with the support of only a handful of Republicans this week voted to formally rebuke Rep. Joe Wilson (R., S.C.) for shouting, "You lie!" during President Obama's address to a joint session of Congress on Sept. 9. Mr. Wilson's outburst came after the President said illegal immigrants were not included in his health-care plan.

This was a mistake.

Mr. Wilson was rude, as he said in his apology later that night: "This evening I let my emotions get the best of me when listening to the President's remarks regarding the coverage of illegal immigrants in the health-care bill," he said. "While I disagree with the President's statement, my comments were inappropriate and regrettable. I extend sincere apologies to the President for this lack of civility."

The President accepted Mr. Wilson's apology. If the House Democratic leadership had brains, they would have done the same. Pursuing this vendetta will hurt them for two reasons. First: The President was deceptive, as the White House all but admitted when it issued a "clarification" of what the President had said.

The House version of the Obamacare bill has language that would deny government-provided health insurance to illegal immigrants. But the same bill has language that forbids health-care providers from checking immigration status, rendering the ban unenforceable.

When Rep. Dean Heller (R., Nev.) offered an amendment to require this, Democrats defeated it. Democrats voted down another amendment that would have required verification of eligibility for expanded Medicaid. This suggests the illegal-immigrant language in the bill was camouflage.

Joe Wilson was right!

And AP fact-checkers Calvin Woodward and Erica Werner pretty much proved that everything obama said that night was a big fat lie.

For cripes sake, can't we recognize a coup d'état when we see one? Time to start calling a spade a spade.

A coup d'état (pronounced /ˌkuːdeɪˈtɑː/, us dict: kōō′·dā·tâ′), or coup for short, is the sudden unconstitutional deposition of a legitimate government, usually by a small group of the existing state establishment — typically the military — to replace the deposed government with another, either civil or military. A coup d’état succeeds when the usurpers establish their legitimacy if the attacked government fail to thwart them, by allowing their (strategic, tactical, political) consolidation and then receiving the deposed government’s surrender; or the acquiescence of the populace and the non-participant military forces.

Typically, a coup d’état uses the extant government’s power to assume political control of the country. In Coup d'État: A Practical Handbook, military historian Edward Luttwak says: "A coup consists of the infiltration of a small, but critical, segment of the state apparatus, which is then used to displace the government from its control of the remainder”, thus, armed force (either military or paramilitary) is not a defining feature of a coup d’État.

Was Joe Wilson right that there will be no way to keep the illegal invaders from accessing the health care system? or, was he right that Obama lied? I say bingo on both.

...there will be no way to keep the illegal invaders from accessing the health care system...

The Demonrats won't even try; on the contrary, they will assist the illegals in gaining access. It, and a path to citizenship, will be payment for the votes the Dems hope will keep them in power in perptuity.

It was great to see that there was ONE honest person left in Congress! Joe Wilson was NOT rude...he was spontaneous (or as he says, having a Townhall moment). Obama was trapped....and chose to lie anyway! His version of ‘it depends what the definition of is is’!!!! This reincarnation of the worst of Carter and the worst of Clinton, combined with the worst of every communist/anarchist is beyond comprehension! Altho’ I seem to remember saying as much to my kids last year before the election!

The battle was lost when he apologized for being right...The republican leadership and all the knuckleheads that told him he should apologize for such a decorum violating outburst were wrong as well...

Now, here is what I believe...

You certainly do have the courtesy as president to address important issues to Congress...Even Obama has that from me...But...And this is a hard thing to imagine, yet I believe most will in the end...

You do not have the courtesy (without challenge) to get up on a “bully pulpit” and lie about the issue at hand...

Ever see the British Parlament in action??? They have outbursts ALL the time...No one, not even the PM has any protection or civility if they are lying or misrepresenting the issue being discussed and debated on the floor...

For the most part there is a tremendous amount of respect and civility in our government processes, but we are in a time where you should be very careful what you say as an elected official...The people aren’t buying the BS anymore...And s lot more people are paying attention, which is definitly something the liberal statists underestimated would occur...

Joe Wilsons’ outburst was exactly what we needed...And he was punished (woopeedoo) for no reason...Other than a political stunt...

But the last laugh is that he has more $$$$$$$$ in his war chest for the next election than he probably dreamed would ever come his way...I say that is rather appropriate...

No one is ever above reproach, and no one is above the law in this country...And if you lie, or someone believes you are lying, and they (and others) know you are...Then you deserve all the ridicule and comments to the negative that can be delivered...

There should have been a few more, if not the entire Republican delegation in the chamber to stand up and say the same thing...

What do you think those knuckleheads could do about that???

Joe Wilson was NOT rude...he was spontaneous

In my book, Joe Wilson was rude. But in my book decorum is not the ne plus ultra; there are matters of much higher concern and regard and in that respect he acted very appropriately.

Blowing out the brains of a vicious unrepentant tyrant is never a polite, mannerly act. But it needs to be done regardless.

Just the same as calling a lying politician out on his lies. Remaining silent when you hear him spouting lies is nothing less than acquiescence and complicity.

I am Joe Wilson.

I really don’t get all the foolish canonizing of Joe Wilson. Here’s a guy that voted in favor of the bank bailouts last fall. And actually voted to fund a Medicare prescription program that provided funding for illegal immigrant back in 2003. Then of course he capitulated 30 minutes after his “brave” outburst and would’ve probably faded away if it wasn’t for the sudden in rush of funding to his political coffers.
Just another scam artist, that opened his clap-trap, got lucky with the timing and is now riding the wave.

Then we have to agree to disagree...you were not rude...spontaneous honesty is never rude! I’ll just have to side with your son on this one! on a side note, 2012 headlines...Joe Wilson, the only congressman remaining after the November elections finally agrees, honesty is the best politics!
