Adios, Poland!

The gist of the article is this: Obama's line of reasoning may be off but the outcome is still useful from an isolationist perspective. Isolationist do not want USA in Poland or anywhere else for that matter.

Then we argue that, if you have to have an ally with someone, may as well make it Russia, because at least they fight.

Has a cool picture (from Wikimedia) of a bunch of Russian soldiers at Stalingrad with Poposhovs.

Can’t stress enough the important symbolic message of this happening on the 70th anniversary of the Soviet Union invasion of Poland! Commies are big on symbolism.

The implication that Poles don't fight is bullsh*t. They took Monte Cassino. They rescued 1st British Para. from Arnheim. They've served with distinction in Iraq and Afghanistan [and the Russians can't say that about the latter].

They have a liberal, western culture, sharing institutions, religion and the culture of Western Europe, unlike the spiritual descendants of the Golden Horde [who could also fight].

Poland's only flaw has been relying on promises from the West, of aid and meaningful alliance.

The Obummer administration is undermining such friendly nations to the US such as Poland and the Czech Republic. Look at what they have done and are saying about Honduras. Look at how Obummer is trying to cozy up to Putin and Ahmadinejad. Look at how Obummer cozied up to Castro and Hugo Chavez. Look at how the Obummer administration is throwing Israel under the bus. It’s a really disturbing pattern and trend for this administration.

The Poles are very tough fighters. They also also very Catholic, so both Islam and Communism is like poison to them.
Once again, the Poles are sold down the river by a DEMOCRATIC president.

Utter nonsense. The Poles fight as well as anyone. And they are our allies. And they put themselves out on a limb accepting these defensive missiles. Now Obama has sawed off that limb and left them dangling.

I would agree that Russia should be allies, too, since we have a common enemy in Islamic terrorism and a common potential enemy in China.

We have tried to do that, but Putin has made it virtually impossible. The price of allying with Russia CANNOT be to betray our friends and allies so that Russia can return to empire building and neighbor bullying.

Finally, the defensive missile system was no threat to Russia, nor even capable of fending off a Russian attack. Yet Putin pretended otherwise for his own purposes, and Obama apparently has now agreed with him.

The Poles are not afraid of a fight but they do demand a fair fight.

I am reminded of the story told by Cornelius Ryan in A BRIDGE TOO FAR when the Polish commander asked of the commanding general in charge of OPERATION MARKETGARDEN to sign a document in case of the complete failure of the operation and the slaughter of his entire regiment and the British commander said “ Do you really expect such a document?” and the Polish commander said, “No for in case of complete slaughter what would be the point.”

Also, I am reminded of the courage of Lech Walesa and his SOLIDARITY MOVEMENT.

Poles or any other freedom loving group are not afraid to fight but they do need a REASON to fight and freedom, liberty, justice and peace are all worth fighting for.
