Georgia Polls: Obama Losing Black Support (nteresting)
Newsmax ^ | 09/06/2009 | Matt Towery

It's just one state. But it’s one of the centers of African-American culture and influence in the nation. Atlanta, with nearly 6 million residents in its metro area, is home to hundreds of top black musicians and other entertainers, civil rights leaders, and business entrepreneurs. Janet Jackson, Usher, Tyler Perry, and Andrew Young are just a handful of the many big names that can be found moving about the Georgia city on a given day. That's why I was startled when our firm, InsiderAdvantage, conducted this past week two separate surveys about various issues for corporate clients in the area. Both polls were conducted on the same night. To keep phone respondents on the line while the poll quizzed them on rather mundane subjects, they were told they'd be given a chance during the questioning to offer an opinion on the job performances of certain political leaders. I was shocked when one survey showed President Barack Obama with a disapproval rating of 35 percent among African Americans in Georgia, while the second one had it at 38 percent. Those two results are statistically identical, as both polls had margins of error of plus or minus 4 percent.

I believe it will take time, but eventually blacks will become Republicans in percentages similar to the rest of the population. Nasty cracks about blacks like the ones that show up in these threads don’t help that process along.

Maybe because nothing has changed for them and nothing will until they get on board and help us clean up the government.

It’s BS.

Blacks came out in droves to vote for a black man.

Even conservative blacks favored him, in spite of their disagreement with what he stands for. Blacks supporters of Hillary abandoned her to support Obama. Blacks compromise their value system to vote for skin color.

Blacks vote for blacks and, when push comes to shove, will vote once again for Zer0 when he faces a white man(or woman).

Maybe they will realize that this is not a race issue, but a COMMIE issue.
YES, I am extremely prejudiced against COMMIES.

There was an interesting story the other day about how the NFL overwhelmingly-—players, coaches, owners-—gives to Republicans, in massive amounts. The SD Chargers were #1, giving hundreds of thousands to the GOP!,br>
Thats because they get paid HUGE checks and the government is stealing substantially from them. The NBA SHOULD be the same way.

(Note: I’m conservative but registered unafilliated.)

I have known many conservatives like yourself, unable to bring themselves to commit to the Republican Party because of past disappointments or some philosophical difference.

But let me tell you that the only way that conservatives will be able to gain more influence in the Republican Party is to increase our numbers of active members in the party.

Just registering in the party is not enough. We need to be active. We need to be part of selecting candidates. The candidates need to hear our voices. The candidates need to want our support. When they do what we want they need to hear our thanks. And when they disappoint us they need to hear our displeasure.

Standing on the sidelines except at election time is not enough. We need to be at party meetings every month voicing our opinions. They need to know our names and faces and what we want. It is the only way the average conservative can have influence in the party with out having deep pockets.

If true, it is because he is not more Liberal.

Precisely. They haven't received their "Obama checks" yet. Obama hasn't paid their mortgage and filled their tanks with gas. But they'll all vote for him in 2012, so he doesn't give a rat's ass.

Rarely has a politician and a voting bloc deserved each other so well.

I’m a Yankee living in Georgia (Damn Yankee).

Atlanta is a corrupt political cesspool and a cauldron of black racism.
They celebrate hip-hop thuggery as if it was a legitimate form of culture.

If they’re upset with Obama at all, it’s because he hasn’t yet pulled off the “full Mugabe”

I am not buying these polls.

I work in the hood every day and there are several reasons he is losing support among blacks. But first one must understand that black Christians in Ohio gave Bush his second term. The number of additional black Christians in Ohio who voted for him in 2004 over the number who voted for him in 2000 was greater than the number of votes he won the state by. These voters voted against Kerry’s support of gay marriage and support of baby killing. If Bush lost Ohio Florida became meaningless.

Now, there are large numbers of people in the hood living on Social Security checks who aren’t getting a raise this year and who may get a cut. The ones who know about that are pissed at Obama. Just this past Thursday a group of people “getting checks” was talking about that. These people were saying how disappointed they are that Obama is doing nothing but hurting them by causing higher prices but not giving them a raise even though he gave all that money to banks, car companies and Wall Street.

This group is not just old folks. It contains people getting SS disability as well. Come January there will be a whole lot of blacks pissed when they don’t get their raise.

Now, add the people getting checks who are worse off than they were to the Christians who don’t like his pro-abortion stance and don’t like his pro-gay marriage stance and there is substantial anti-Obama feelings in the hood.

I constantly send emails and letters to my representatives when they do something I agree with as long as it is in the true conservative realm. Good behavior needs rewarding, bad behavior needs to be outed.

I don’t want ANYONE picked for their SKN COLOR.

I am sick and tired of RACE based politics.

Steele is another RHINO and he’s black.

What the GOP should do is replace the abortion loving, quota loving Steele with Sarah Palin.

I don't know what to think of this.

Here's my simple assessment: "opinion" means nothing, it's "action" (i.e. voting) that matters.

Just like after 9/11, we were told and are still being told that not all Muslims are terrorists. Well, that may be true, but their overall attitude is "we don't betray any Muslim, no matter how evil he/she is."

That same rule can be applied to American Black voters. So, until I see numbers of blacks actually & publicly opposing the jOker, I'm assuming that most of them fall under the "Abused Spouse" or "In-denial-about-their-wayward-son Mother" category.

You are delusional.

“by and large, have an abiding respect for life that is Biblically based, and they live it”, you may be correct about primarily elderly black women, but by no means a majority.

“the huge number of single mothers actually bear witness to this. It’s but one example of Christianity on the one hand, and being all too accepting of adultery on the other, but there it is”. Obviously you speak from zero actual experience, your example is more realistically based on their cultural acceptance of black male irresponsibility, black matreorical culture in general and on Aid To Dependent Children - WELFARE.

“They descend from people who were literally owned”, again you should back further to many of these same behaviors being the norm in their homeland.

My contention is that the black community overwhelmingly votes democrat because the dems offer (promise) them the easier path to “share the wealth”.

Tiller the late-term abortionist was a churchgoer.

Star Parker was on C-SPAN this morning talking about this very topic, the increasing number of black people who don't support Obama.

I don’t know what to think of this.

To say you disapprove of him or his actions is one thing but did they say they’d not vote for him if he was on the ballot again. My guess is that most of the 35% would. You voice disapproval in an effort to get things you want done.

I disapproved of John McCain in many areas but when it came to election time I pulled the lever for him over the democrat.........

Dem promises are as empty as their brains.

Furthermore, if the Bible teaches us anything it is that the most important thing is LIFE but NOT at the expense of either personal responsibility and accountability or the abandonment of Christian religious principle.

I live near downtown Atlanta south of I-20 and I see a lot of Mary Norwood signs in my neighborhood.

Mary has been campaigning for the last two years in neighborhoods all over Atlanta. A black state rep. from south Atlanta has endorsed Mary because of her "accessibility".

Shirley Franklin has not royally screwed anything up . Wrong. The crime in intown Atlanta is way up. The police commissioner, who plans on leaving when the new mayor is elected, is no where to be seen.

Shirley did all right in her first term, but she hasn't done anything in her second term but coast.

Also, six city council members are running unopposed. No interest in coming out to vote for them. The two black mayoral candidate live in the same district, so their "home base" is split.

I think Mary Norwood, the white candidate for mayor of Atlanta, has a good chance to win.
