After weeks of speculation and buzz, it was reported this morning in the Houston Chronicle newspaper that Farouk Shami has announced he is running for the Democratic nomination of governor of the state of Texas.
In an exclusive interview in the September issue of MODERN SALON, Farouk hinted at the possibility. When MODERN Editor in Chief Laurel Smoke asked about rumors surrounding Shamis political ambitions, he answered, Where theres smoke, theres fire.
A few weeks ago, Shami hosted thousands of guests, including current Texas governor Rick Perry and Houston Mayor Bill White, for the ribbon cutting of CHI USA, a 500,000-square-foot facility replacing facilities in Asia and creating an initial 1,200 new jobs in the Houston area. Up to 5,000 additional jobs expected to be created over the next three to four years.
Can this beauty industry powerhouse translate his skills and bring his diverse background into the Texas governors office?
Shami told the Chronicle, I came with nothing to Texas, he said. I started with nothing and built a billion-dollar business. Ive hired thousands of people, and Im ready to hire thousands and thousands more. I am blessed to be a U.S. citizen and blessed to be a Texan. This state gave me the greatest opportunity. I want to pay back by leading Texas. With privilege comes responsibility.

Not to worry. He will change his name to Kieth. Oh, that was already done. How about to Fred?
A fan of Gorgeous George ?
That disqualifies him immediately in my book.
Yep.
I want a governor named Sam.
Isn’t it interesting how everyone wants to “give back”??
Going no further than the feel-good immigrant to billionaire rhetoric, one is ready to bite.
THen one sees salient facts like his favorite pol being
Barack Obama.
Regardless of what he thinks his clout or “personal appeal” might be in Texas, I can tell you, even from my vantage point in New Jersey, it’s a Dem political wet-dream
that Texas could ever have a Governor named Farouk Shami.
Having said that , though, be reminded that this kind of
“development” is EXACTLY what the Left wants to see, EVERYWHERE. All offered and rationalized under the rubric
“more like America”, until the Caucasian Christian majority
is in a permanent panicked state of defensive retreat. They want Whites in this condition: it better serves them to keep intimidating , threatening, provoking, than to outright “eliminate” us. No political “points” to gain by doing that.

So why the hell isn’t he a Republican?
Colonel, USAFR
He’ll have to battle it out with Kinky (Big Head) Friedman.
I will speculate Soros is backing him.
His company needs to invest in face conditioner.
Oh Boy.
Talk about non sequiturs...
I’m the Nash!
As a native Texan, this makes me want to puke.
No offense to anyone, but he also looks gay. Of course, I really have no idea, and I guess that wouldn’t prevent a person from running for office....I’m just saying....
Geez...all the nuts are coming out of the woodwork. Where is Kinky when we need him!
Ruh Roh! Another reason to move to the NEborg.
Oh, man, if Texas falls where WILL there be a decent place to live??
He won’t have a chance against Houston mayor Bill White. I don’t even think he could beat Kinky. But, as another poster said, Soros is backing him who knows?
He makes a good product (BioSilk & Chi) but I don't see this getting him to the governor's mansion.
Being a native Texan, I can't see this happening, but we have elected some "real winners" in the past, so who knows? Can he beat the Latina Deb Medina though?
This’ll be interesting...I imagine Austin is already in the bag.
I thought the same thing about a guy named Hussein. Considering who got elected president only 7 years after 9/11...Nothing surprises me anymore.
There’s a web poll out there asking people to “vote” to re-elect Obama. Most of America has gone nuts.
