Police are searching for killer committed to a mental institution after he escaped during a field trip to the Spokane County Interstate Fair.
Spokane County sheriff's Sgt. Dave Reagan says 57-year-old Phillip Arnold Paul was last seen Thursday morning in the northeast part of the fairgrounds.
The sheriff's office told KXLY in Spokane that they were "dismayed" that the Eastern State's Hospital didn't notify authorities for more than an hour and a half after they knew he was missing.
"It appears now there was a two hour lapse from the point he disappeared from his attendant to the sheriff's office was notified of his escape and obviously that's a concern to us," Sgt. Reagan told KXLY. "We're concerned that we were not aware that people of his criminal history were being brought to the fair for day trips. As a courtesy we would have liked to have been notified ahead of time."

As much as I generally appreciate FReeper humor, even that of the gallows variety, this ain’t funny to me. My son, daughter-in-law, and granddaughters are in close proximity to this area.
Twenty years ago, a local man went off his meds and began flagging down drivers at an intersection and shooting them because they were “devils” if their eyes shone in his light.
It has taken the obsessive dedication of a victim’s grieving parent to “encourage” the justice system to pass insane-but-guilty as a possible charge in the future (didn’t make it into law), and that those criminally committed to mental institutions bear the burden of proof of their sanity before release, instead of the old system of the prosecution having to prove insanity every time the convict’s potential freedom came before a judge.
Meanwhile, the f’r was sitting in his taxpayer-funded institution, collecting social security for his “disability that kept him from working.” The aggrieved parent got that stopped too (and for all the criminally institutionalised in the state), though not before the s.o.b. had bought himself a motorcycle and a bunch of other goodies. While in criminally insane confinement! During one of his release hearings, it turned out that he’d been working outside the institution on a daywork program. Couldn’t do much about that.
I dunno why he keeps wanting those hearings. He’s toast if he ever becomes available to the public around here. At least, I sure hope so. Him and any other ilk who wanna try it.
So humor is okay as long as your family is not in the area?
Since we all don’t know where you have family please obtain a map of the USA and mark it up so we know where humor is okay and where it is not.
Thanks in advance.
No, it’s not. I’m sorry it came across that way.
We’re all always walking a line between when humor is appropriate and when it’s not. God help us if we lose our sense of humor, but there’s a time and a place for it.
My point was more directed at myself than anyone else. I wasn’t particularly offended by any of the humor on this thread. That’s why I didn’t address it to anyone in particular. But I should have been much clearer. Again, my apologies.
The next time we hear about him, Zer0 will have appointed him DeathCare Czar.
