BATON ROUGE - Governor Bobby Jindal has issued an executive order cutting off current and future state funding to ACORN following a series of incidents captured on videotape and the subpoena of documents from the groups national headquarters in New Orleans by the state attorney general's office.
The executive order states that, ACORNs actions make clear that financial involvement with ACORN is contrary to the public policy of the State of Louisiana and the best interests of its citizens.
The order prohibits all state agencies from entering into future contracts with ACORN or its subsidiaries and directs the agencies to cease all existing funding for ACORN or its subsidiaries unless such funding is already legally obligated.

A spokesman for Jindal said that there was no money budgeted currently for ACORN but that existing contracts were being checked to see if any involved ACORN.
Jindal's order also asked for other political subdivisons to consider doing the same. The spokesman said other subdivisions would refer to city and parish governments.
Earlier Thursday, the state attorney general's office subpoenaed the non-profit agency for a string of documents dating back to 1998.
The subpoena was addressed to ACORN's founder and former director Wade Rathke and it demanded bank cards, bank statements and documents. Investigators have also asked ACORN to identify all of its associated companies.
Recently a series of incriminating videos has been released to a national media outlet, sparking outrage. ACORN has also previously been accused of voter registration fraud.
ACORN has countered by calling the tapes a witch hunt and local spokesperson Vanessa Gueringer questioned the tapes authenticity.
“...a series of incriminating videos....”!
What I wouldn’t give to hear the conference calls going on between the Rathke brothers and George Soros.
God Speed Mister J.....
Way to go, Jindal
Drug lords and warlords do a lot of good for their people too. Doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be taken down with extreme prejudice.
Excellent!
Bobby Jindal is one of the rare good ones.
If you’re getting tax money, you don’t be partisan. ACORN being run by idiots
ping
The state was funding ACORN?
Who’s compiling the list of ACORN’s 270+- affiliates? Unless they’re *all* put out of business, nothing gained. Even if they are, vigilantes may have to clean up the mess. I don’t advocate or want that, but, “Hee-hee, you can’t catch me, I’m over here now,” is almost impossible to beat by legal means.
Go Bobby, clean that mess outta there!
Don’t know about state funding but there is a radio show here in LA at 9 pm on 870 — the host said last night that he is checking into all connections with payments made by Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa to Acorn for “services” rendered — it was in the $50,000 range (and that is just one politician). Apparently most LA politicians are thick with the group.
If near LA tune the fellow in (can’t remember his name, sorry).
Sorry - I’m talking about Los Angeles (not Louisiana).
And then we could call everyone who disagrees with his policies ‘racists.’
“Investigators have also asked ACORN to identify all of its associated companies. “
and that, ladies and gentleman, is where the next battle needs to be fought.
