Conservatives blast Sen. Casey for not voting to cut off ACORN funding

WASHINGTON - A resurgent conservative activist community that last month zeroed in on U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter has turned its ire to Democratic colleague Bob Casey over the freshman senator's vote against blocking federal funding for the community organizing group ACORN.

Casey's vote Monday put him at odds with all but six of his Senate colleagues, who approved an amendment to the Department of Housing and Urban Development's 2010 spending bill to bar federal money for the organization next year. The vote came after videos surfaced showing workers in multiple offices giving tax advice to a couple posing as a pimp and a prostitute.

Filmed by two conservative activists, the footage produced the latest backlash against the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, a regular target of conservatives.

Casey has largely avoided controversial stances during his two-plus years representing Pennsylvania in the Senate. His vote on the ACORN funding, though, has prompted a flood of angry constituent calls, fanned by continuous cable news coverage of the amateur videos.

A spokesman for the senator called the measure to cut off funds to ACORN a far-reaching amendment that ''prematurely targets an entire organization for the disturbing actions of a few employees.''

The ACORN story is really heating up now. More than twenty states have ACORN and ACIRN subsidaries and affiliates under investigation for various fraud, bribery, racketeering, obstruction of justice, income tax evasion and other egregious illegalities and crimes.

But this is only the tip of the iceberg. As more is uncovered and discovered about ACORN, it will effectively put an end to the ACORN organization once and for all which should have happened a long time ago when conservatives were in power and did nothing against them either.

It was the House that attached the amendment to the government takeover of college loans not the Senate.

As Rush said, “Casey, as we all know, is a french fry short of a Happy Meal”.

...but he still gets elected!

Truly amazing that Pa. voters (with a little fraud from ACORN) got rid of Santorum and elected this stump head Casey.
