(CNSNews.com) – The Social Security Administration (SSA) has issued benefit checks totaling $40.3 million to an estimated 6,100 beneficiaries for months – and in some cases for decades -- after receiving notification of their deaths, according to a June audit report from the agency’s Office of Inspector General.
Approximately 1,760 of the 6,100 listed as deceased actually were dead, the government auditor estimated. The rest were alive, but had been wrongly listed as deceased.

Hypothetical S.S. recipient - Lives alone, no close relatives, he dies and the automatic monthly direct deposits keep going to his bank account. Who is responsible for telling the government that he is dead?
The bank would not automatically know, the account is still active because there is a transaction every month.
Democrats paying dead people for their votes, nothing here, move along.

Well, there is a death certificate. Doesn't that get filed at the city or town level? From there its just a matter of bureaucracy. But of course, we know how that can work or not work.
