How ACORN Caused the Financial Crises
American Shareholders ^ | September 17, 2009 | Benjamin Pacini

Here is a list of ACORN’s crimes—take special note of number nine.

1. This is a group that was knee-deep in voter fraud during the president’s election.

2. There seems to have been zero accountability for this fraud by the group’s leadership.

3. ACORN does not appear to have any true ‘leadership’ to speak of.

4. ACORN has now been deeply embarrassed by two amateur journalists.

5. They were embarrassed because they were assisting two people—posing as a pimp and a prostitute—who wanted help getting a loan on a house to keep 13 El Salvadorian sex slaves.

6. They did these things using tax payer dollars.

7. The government—only now—seems to be moving towards fixing the problems with ACORN. Instead of prosecuting them criminally—as would certainly be done if these crimes had been perpetrated by Bank of America or JPMorgan—the government has finally decided to stop paying taxpayer dollars into this fund.

8. ACORN initially claimed that the portrayal was “false and defamatory and an attempt at gotcha journalism” and only now has put a hiring freeze on the company—a bold attempt at real reform.

9. ACORN helped start the financial crisis.

The media seems to be missing the ninth point...

Sure. Bwarney Fwank forced lending institutions to make loans to the ACORN constituents. Failure to do so would be "racist" and he would put political pressure on you.

The two amateur journalists SHOULD get Pulitizers, but their professors will probably mark them down for going against the party line and awards like that are very politically motivated.

At this moment the Baltimore City AG is considering prosecuting the two students that exposed this scam with a video of the ACORN professionals explaining how to purchase a house and import a few bimbos. The charge is illegally recording of the conversation.

Right you are. How many people were coached by ACORN to submit fraudulent mortgage applications to secure mortgages that they would never be able to pay?

ACORN may be a bunch of goobers and hoods, but they did not cause the financial meltdown. That is good old Wall Street’s fault pretty much by their lonesome, with a good helping hand from government non-regulators. Here are some people who are each individually more responsible for the meltdown than ACORN:

Ayn Rand, Alan Greenspan, Phil Gramm, Bill Clinton, George Bush, Rubin, Larry Summers, etc. AND WALL STREET.

While the ACORN crap is hilarious, most conservatives, Beck included, are missing the real crime that went on, on WALL STREET. And now in Washington by failing to regulate WALL STREET.

parsy, who would rather put up with ACORN shenanigans than WALL STREET shenanigans any day of the week.

The estimate is that you are caught on camera between 200 - 300 times per day. Initially, I thought that was ridiculous until I started counting the number of traffic cams, security cams, etc. so it is plausible. Using a camera to expose the utter corruption that is ACORN is something that should be rewarded, certainly not prosecuted. When ACORN accepted the first dime of public tax money they became a public entity and anything they do should be open to public scrutiny. This AG should be thrown out just for considering bringing charges.

Cause the fraud, or have a hand in it, and then offer the 'solutions', and help 'educate' voters, to further that aim. It's deliciously subversive. I guess the old hippies have been up to something since Woodstock. ;-)

Let’s see. Acorn is responsible for the housing (financial) crisis. Right. The total exposure to the banks from sub prime and alt-a mortgages together amounted to nearly a trillion dollars since 2001. If the assets (houses) brought 50 cents on the dollar the write downs now only amount to 500 billion. Chump change. Of that half trillion acorn can only be blamed for about half. I’m in the upper 99 percentile in disdain for acorn. True hatred I tell you, but utter stupidity from the bright guys on wall street caused the financial crisis.
The derivatives market amounted to the banks and investment firms selling puts on real estate values. The inflation in housing prices resulted from easy money. Easy money resulted from wall street begging, pleading for more securities they could package and sell. The smart money bet prices would fall. When the ratings firms started to have second thoughts on the AAA ratings they were paid triple the normal fee for, the crash was written in stone. This is the reason for the crash and this is the truth.

You are very wrong on that. ACORN was instrumental, and in fact, a key player in creating the conditions that lead to the sub prime meltdown.

And in fact, causing a financial meltdown and economic chaos was the stated intention of the ACORN founder, Wade Rathke.

People like Rathke are economic and social saboteurs out to destroy every institution in this country in hopes of seizing power and rebuilding in the own Marxist image and politicians form Franks to Obama are their enablers.
