HR 3221 - Student Aid and Fiscal Responsibility Act of 2009 (To amend the Higher Education Act of 1965, and for other purposes.)

There are no amendments listed attributed to Rep. Issa.

Another terrible bill that no one should vote for. It is education lending bill that CBO reports will increase the deficit by $50 billion. The bill includes a little-known provision to give the Secretary of Education $500 million - to be provided to to any entity he deems “appropriate” - to develop and disseminate free and “freely available” online courses. Maybe Issa’s goal was to include a “poison pill” so the whole bill fails.

This article says the bill is a LIE

Also if you read the other thread that was posted, there is discussion about the real intent of this bill.

Ok, thanks. That is interesting.

It never ceases to amaze me how Congress does things within totally unrelated bills.

There seems to be real confusion here regarding this bill. Frankly, this "education" bill should be voted down. It is just more government giveaways to the lazy and stupid in this country.

I thought it was HR3288 filed by Sen. Mike Johanns R-NE
Johanns #2355.
They are probably sneaking other things in...
