Police Search House of Colorado Man Suspected of Links to Terror Plot After New York Trip

AURORA, Colo. — Federal agents on Wednesday searched the home of a suburban Denver man identified by law enforcement as having a possible link to al-Qaida, carting away several boxes of evidence.

FBI special agent Kathleen Wright confirmed that agents had a search warrant for the home of Najibullah Zazi. Residents of neighboring apartments were evacuated as a precaution, Wright said.

Zazi denies that he's a central figure in a terrorism investigation that fed fears of a possible bomb plot and led to several police raids in New York City on Monday.

Agents left Zazi's apartment with at least six boxes. One was labeled "swabs," and others were marked "fragile" and "glass."

Agents also escorted three women and a man from the apartment. The man appeared to be in his early 20s and had a beard, but an AP reporter confirmed it was not Najibullah Zazi. Two of the women covered their faces with headscarves, and the third used a canvas chair to shield her face. All were driven away in an SUV.

The task force also feared Zazi may be involved in a potential plot involving homemade hydrogen peroxide-based explosives like those cited in an intelligence warning issued Monday, said the officials, who spoke on anonymity because they were not authorized to speak about the investigation.

Mike Cutler sent a note along with this article:

The article notes that Zazi had a "Green Card," that is to say that he is a lawful immigrant. I have no information as to how he obtained his lawful immigrant status because the fraud rate in the process by which aliens are granted lawful immigrant status is fraught with fraud. USCIS (United States Citizenship and Immigration Services) is the division of DHS that is charged with adjudicating applications for all of the various immigration benefits including conferring resident alien status and United States citizenship upon aliens and although they process more than 6 million such applications each and every year, they only have about 600 investigators to conduct field investigations to determine the bona fides of the application and the material facts concerning those applications.

Of course, in this case, I have no information as to how Mr. Zazi obtained his purported resident alien status, although the article makes it sound as though he has been living in the United States for many years, but certainly I hope that those who are investigating him are delving into this issue.

As for the statement that a "background check" was conducted by the authorities of Colorado, I have often noted that a background check is not comparable to a background investigation. A background check generally just involves running an applicants fingerprints and stated name on an application through a computer database to check for known individuals. If the person in question uses a fictitious name, the value of running the name is worthless. Most terrorists know that it is essential to keep a "low profile" as an embedding tactic. They know that to "hide in plain sight" they must not get arrested or have contact with law enforcement so that if they then apply for a license their fingerprints will come up "clean."

This is the same issue where a massive amnesty program for millions of illegal aliens under the auspices of "Comprehensive Immigration Reform" is concerned.

It will be interesting to see how the ongoing investigation unfolds.

Our nation must not only secure its borders against the illegal entry of illegal aliens, but must create an immigration system that has meaningful integrity if our nation is to effectively address the many challenges confronting our country and our citizens.

We live in a perilous world and in a perilous era. The survival of our nation and the lives of our citizens hang in the balance

This is neither a Conservative issue, nor is it a Liberal issue- simply stated, this is most certainly an AMERICAN issue!

You are either part of the solution or you are a part of the problem!

Democracy is not a spectator sport!

Lead, follow or get out of the way!

I'd bet there are 25,000+ cab drivers from the mid east in this country, with some kind of ties to al-Qaida. Our own government welcomed them all in, just like most of the other terrorist that have been welcomed in by the Fedgov, while grandma is sniffed, scanned, xray'd, searched and scoped at the local airport.

“I’d bet there are 25,000+ cab drivers from the mid east in this country, with some kind of ties to al-Qaida.”

Cutler discussed that point as well, that this is great cover for terrorists.

Wish they would have reported how the dog was behaving when it left the building. Again, I have to ask, why are we admitting millions of people like this into our country, and why we are allowing them to stay here? Are there no unemployed, licensed drivers in Denver who are unemployed American citizens who would like his job? And if I were writing the laws, all trips to Pakistan from the United States would be one way.

Very poorly written first sentence. It should read;

Federal agents on Wednesday searched the home of a suburban Denver man identified by law enforcement as having a possible link to al-Qaida, carting away several boxes as evidence.

The reporter can not possibly know what is in the boxes so the contents can't be called evidence yet.

Picking nits, I know.

in today’s hopey-changey America this guy has likely lawyered-up to his ears, and at the end of the day will win so much money suing the Feds and NYPD he will be able to move back home and become a very successful warlord

That's the 10 million dollar question, that both these political parties run from.

We've got millions of our own American brothers and sisters out of work, losing their a$$es, and yet the Fedgov continues to flood our country with foreigners, many of which are extremely questionable?

Glad those that established this once great country can't see it now.
