House Ethics Panel Investigates Rep. Maxine Waters

Her husband's ties to a bank that received bailout funds put the Los Angeles congresswoman in the spotlight earlier this year. Rep. Maxine Waters a hard-liner for public healthcare option

By Richard Simon September 16, 2009

Reporting from Washington - The House Ethics Committee is investigating Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Los Angeles), who has come under scrutiny because of her husband's ties to a bank that received federal bailout funds.

The panel's chairwoman and ranking member announced the committee is extending by 45 days a determination on whether it will conduct a more thorough review of Waters' conduct, but they declined to say what is being investigated. Waters, one of Los Angeles' most enduring liberal politicians, also declined comment.

Word of the probe of Waters came as the committee announced that it was delaying an inquiry into whether Rep. Jesse L. Jackson Jr. (D-Ill.) or his representatives tried to secure the Senate seat vacated by President Obama by promising to raise campaign cash for disgraced former Illinois Gov. Rod R. Blagojevich.

The panel cited an ongoing federal investigation in Chicago.

Why the heck isn’t Rangel on the list as well? Republicans might be able to shut congress down if they raised hell about the Democrat leadership. Newt Gingrich knew how to make the GOP heard.

Would be effective if a number of serious bloggers jumped on this.

Rattle their cages. Not only Waters, but Rangel too.

Another show trial for a deeply corrupt socialist lefty, that will admonish her for the silliest of her sins, and ignore here real crimes. Just another day in the Democrat controlled Congress.

I remember, like yesterday, how under the same conditions, the fringe media would hype up the slightest indiscretions by a Republican, whip public opinion to a frenzy, only to see the “gentleman” Republican gracefully step down.

Puke.

Barney Frank and Chris Dodd and don’t forget Dianne Feinstein whose husband has raked in hundreds of millions of $$s from investments in China using her influence on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

“the committee is extending by 45 days a determination on whether it will conduct a more thorough review of Waters’ conduct, but they declined to say what is being investigated...”

That's enough time for some actual investigative reporter to find out what ‘conduct’ is being investigated.

Myself, I'd like to see her statement here investigated - I'm sure the strings from her to most of the dems would uncover card carrying Socialists and their 30 year conspiracy (successful one) to infiltrate and take over the old democrat party.

House Ethics Committee is investigating Rep. Maxine Waters... Yeah, that’s like ACORN conducting an investigation of criminal activities at ACORN. Don’t need to be a rocket scientist to see where that’s going - no where!

If, and It is a big IF, many of those “Represented” by Waters, re-file as Democrats B4 her next Primary; and IF they vote for the Same OTHER, She COULD fail to make the November Ballot.
