A left-leaning community organizing group says it has no contracts with Minnesota that would be impaired by Gov. Tim Pawlenty's directive to cut off state money.
Pawlenty on Wednesday ordered a review and suspension of public contracts with the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, known as ACORN. The potential 2012 presidential candidate says no state money would go to ACORN unless legally obligated.
ACORN is under fire after a hidden-camera story alleging illegal activities by some of its workers.
ACORN deputy political director Kevin Whelan says there are no present contracts that would be affected in Minnesota. Whelan says Pawlenty's move "seems like it's motivated by politics or publicity."
....funny how the pols are trying to disown ACORN now that the public is coming out from under the ether.
Every state is slushed by ACORN.
More states need to do this.
First arnold, now this..
Good——
Little late Timmy. They handed the Senate to a marxist POS right under your nose.
Right after they got the current Sec of State installed in the last election, guaranteeing the monkey business that got Franken in......
I would love to know if the couple doing all the undercover ACORN videos have any dirt on ACORN in Illinois. AG Lisa Madigan, daughter of Speaker Mike Madigan, would have to make a decision to prosecute Barry’s people, in Barry’s state, on the heels of both Illinois Senators voting against de-funding ACORN. But that’s not gonna happen....
Methinks he was afraid of where the next tape would be coming from...
Every State GOPer who has the power to investigate ACORN in their state should do so immediately. Tie them up in court. Make them spend money in legal fees. Try to get them on process crimes like perjury. In short, use the left’s tactics against them.
It should be “the 300+ organizations of the ACORN web”, or something similar.
Politicians love the loopholes. Let's close them.
Being able to say “we have not sent a dime to ACORN” is meaningless.
Being able to say “we have not sent a dime to the 300+ organizations of the ACORN web” might actually mean something.
Just thinking RICO here.
“seems like it’s motivated by politics or publicity.”
______________
Seems to me it’s motivated by kick your corrupt behinds out of our state. We don’t your criminal activities here, tyvm!
Racketeering, voter registration fraud and support for more than likely illegal house loans is not something we want in our states.
cosa nostra? (but without the class)
Good for Pawlenty.
ACORN plus MN’s same voter registration on election day opens the door to election fraud.
Such as Citizen Services, OIC aka ACORN INTL, SEIU, DEMOCRACY ALLIANCE, etc...
Desperately trying to catch Palin...
Is there a chart and/or easily readable graphic or just a website showing all the organizations ACORN is connected with?
A nice clear graphic type chart would really be the ticket right now.
Go to Muckety.com,type in Acorn or Community organizations international and click on map.(There are a lot more than what I got on my first try, but I haven’t played around with it a lot yet. )Others on FR are more expert than I am.
Notice the mealy mouthed weasel words. Make it unlegal dufus!
Go down the hall to your elected SOS and then pick of the phone and call your junior senator. ACORN has your state by the nuts.
“Desperately trying to catch Palin...”
BINGO we have a winner. When I read the headline that was the first thing I thought. Took him a week and 4 videos to find a backbone.
