Sources: McChrystal Wants Up to 40,000 More Troops in Afghanistan

Gen. Stanley McChrystal, the top U.S. commander in Afghanistan, is privately requesting between 30,000 and 40,000 more troops, a request that has produced "sticker shock" and "huge resistance" among key lawmakers, sources told FOX News.

Congressional liberals who led the charge against the Iraq war are starting to turn their attention to Afghanistan, putting pressure on the Obama administration to scale back even as it prepares to consider a likely request to increase the U.S. troop presence.

Gut check time, Obama. You have been in office 9 months. Make a decision.

Maybe its time to send 30-40k troops to surround the Capitol and round up lawmakers with “sticker-shock”.

The Brits haven’t done too well over the years there.

Let alone the Soviets, who had very “liberal” rules of enagagement.

Not the time for waffling Barry....our guys are in harms way.

Besides...Iraq was the wrong war and Afghanistan was the "right" war...or so you said.

Better have a really clear phased plan and a measurement of when to get out.

And make sure the politicians won’t go wobbly halfway through.

Not a good time to upscale a war effort with D’s in office who aren’t behind you.

Obama on Wednesday said there is no "immediate decision pending" on more troops to Afghanistan.

Zer0 is being asked to make a decision he doesn't want to make but he'd better study this and make it quick, we're losing people there because of the new ROE.

If today is any indicator of the support odumbo is giving our troops, then I hope they get out fast. Odumbo made the cowardly excuse that he inherited this war from Pres Bush but I thought this was the “good war”?

TOTALLY AGREE!!! If we’re sending another 40,000 to fight a ‘PC’ war, then bring the rest of the ground troops home, and just bomb the crap of that area.

“British situation”

historical stuff in the 1800’s

I forget the name of the expiditionary force (and time frame off hand. Mid century?) but the doctor was the only one allowed to live. To carry the story back.

I'll make two prediction about this story:

1. McChrystal will NEVER confirm it.

2. When we finally see the official request it will be for whatever Obama wants it to be - and that is not going to be 40,000. Probably half that at the most. McChrystal should have asked for 80,000.
