We just need to disagree, i think it’s disrespectful, and his dad should have knocked some sense into him.

The soldier discussed it with his friend's father, who not only approved but said that he was happy to see his son's friend keep the promise he'd made.

His dad must really be proud. What is it about crossdressing british? How about he show a little respect for his unit. He just made himself the center of attention with his gay act.

You are an ass.

It’s probably just me.

yeah, pretty much. :-)

I just don't see it that way. It's a tribute to their friendship that even a drunken promise to his mate was kept without shirking. The family was on board with it. Hopefully his buddy was able to look down on him and get a serious chuckle out of it. I know I would. :-)

As far as I’m concerned, troops from the Blackwatch can do anything they want. They have earned that right. Talk about badasses...

Other than that, this is one of those ideas that was a lot funnier at the time over beers than in real life. Oh well... His buddy has done his duty in every possible way. That’s for sure.

when my grandmother died my first husband went out and bought THE ugliest tie on the planet to wear to the funeral, simply because he knew she would have loved the tie. people looked at that tie funny, some even frowned. but he was right she would have loved the tie.
when my first husband died a few years later, my brother went out and found the ugliest tie possible and wore it to the funeral. he knew his late brother in law would have loved the tie and understood the humor in it. i understood the point of that hideous tie. husbands family? not so much. only one of his 3 brothers got the ugly tie thing without anyone explaining it and the other 2 plus the father did not get it even after it was explained. they just did not understand what my brother and i knew for fact, the guy i loved and married and lost would have prefered to have the pall bearers wearing hawiian shirts, surf shorts and flip flops but an ugly tie was the next best thing. sometime we just have honor the ones we lose the way they would have wanted us to. this young man made a promise and kept it. i applaud his dedication. although his fashion sense is wicked bad.

Promises between brothers in arms mean nothing to you, I take it?

If they made a pact when both were alive, I can understand and respect his decision to honor their friendship with a little humor. I know when I am nervous or anxious, laughter is my friend. A friendship filled with humor and Laughter = an instant vacation. It’s a relief...and certainly cathartic.

Deep thoughts now off:)

No, I’m sorry, that’s one pact I would NOT keep! Hereitbeknown: If you make a silly pact with me while I’m sloshed out of my mind (because that’s the only way I’d make a pact like this one), I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE for sticking to it.
