How Much Has the Charge of Racism Been Diluted in the Last Few Months?    [Peter Kirsanow]

An accusation of racism may be the most radioactive charge in public discourse. Lots of smart people have stated that leveling the charge serves to cut off any debate on the underlying topic, i.e., health-care reform, radical czars, ACORN, etc.

 

But the profligate resort to the charge over the last few months actually seems to have energized the conversation on the details of many of these subjects. Those accused — Tea Party attendees, talk-radio listeners, and even a few GOP politicians — don't seem to have gotten the message that they should be cowed and should stop questioning the positions of those hurling the accusation. In prior years, some of these same folks would have crawled into a hole, never to emerge. 

 

But crying wolf inevitably leads to diminishing returns.

 

I wonder if Eric Holder still thinks we're a nation of cowards?

Racism means nothing anymore, especially since most of the people on the left who are leveling the charges have proven themselves to be racist, bigoted hate mongers. Of course there are losers like Carter, a finger pointer who once ran for governor of Georgia on a segregationist platform. What a guy, a southern Democrat of the old school, like the ones who fought Civil Rights legislation with a vengeance. Where was Jimmy back in the days when Republicans were leading the fight for Civil Rights? He was playing racist politics with his Democrat buddies.

The head of ACORN just said on the ABC Evening News that the attacks on ACORN are racially motivated. DH and I laughed heartily. It’s getting so predictable.

A couple of conclusions I’ve reached about the race card:

- if you’re a conservative, it will be played against you at some point—-Accept that fact.

- once it has been played, they’ve taken their best shot—-They’re out of Aces.

- the constant overplaying of the race card by the Left during the last year or so has significantly diminished its strength—-Much like the boy who cried wolf.
