WASHINGTON (AP) - Under pressure to show quick results from the economic stimulus, the White House is taking credit for starting to build hundreds of rural water systems nationwide.
But don't look for construction crews anytime soon. At most job sites, it could be awhile. Sometimes, a long while.
It all depends on what the definition of "starting" is.

THE SPIN: Vice President Joe Biden said two weeks ago, "We set a goal of starting to build 200 water sanitary systems and wastewater treatment facilities in rural America. We've met that goal." The White House Web site says "We are pleased to report that new waste and water systems are underway in 200 communities in rural America."

The list, ping
Ol' Plugs should ask for a refund on those hair transplants. It appears to me the doc drilled a bit too deeply and hit what little gray matter there is in Biden's head.
Just open the damn spigots in California! Tell the Delta Smelt to go fish!
Biden: It depends on what the definition of "start" is.
“When you announce a project, you've begun a project,” Department of Agriculture spokesman Justin DeJong said. “Everything is begun.”

geeze - they aught to at least stick a shovel in it...kinda like their road projects - take in N. H. and other states:
“Road Signs Noting “Stimulus” Projects Cost $500 Apiece In New Hampshire. “Signs with the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act logo are plastered at stimulus-funded construction project sites around America. The costs of these signs — some of them reaching into the thousands of dollars — are drawing sharp criticism from one member of Congress...The signs cost $500 apiece in Maryland and New Hampshire, $1,700 in Georgia, $2,000 in Pennsylvania and New York, and $3,000 per project in New Jersey. For the price of one $2,000 sign, 40 potholes could be repaired. The costs of the signs are adding up for some states.” (Jonathan Karl, “Expensive Stimulus Road Signs Raise Eyebrows,” ABC News, 7/10/09)”
*********************************** One of my sons is a long-hauler - crisscrosses the country weekly - he sees lots of these signs but NO construction. Nada. Not a shovel of dirt turned...

The whole Obama administration is a charade - all claims based on zip, nutt'in, nada. And yet the money is disappearing by the billions - for instance:
2 Billion to Brazil to develop offshore oil fields which end up benefiting Petrobras - a company George Soros invested $800 million in just after the Obama's election.
JOE WILSON called the Obama's charade for what it is - lies!!
Something fishy with this entire assertion by Biden.
Year’s ago, the citizens of our town passed an increase in taxes to go specifically for a waterline project. The project is almost complete and suddenly there appears this hugh sign that money is from the Reinvestment Act.
Looks like the Administration is going to each state in search of current projects and putting signs up.
Ridiculous.
clinton: It depends on what the definition of “is” is.
Biden: It depends on what the definition of “start” is.”
It also depends on a number of other things.
“Rural water systems” which the Feds would be involved in would most likely be on Indian Reservations.
Those projects have been ongoing for years.
These projects would have been on the drawing boards for lots of years, and have NOTHING to do with the “stimulus” money.
Make someone give us details of where and how much and WHEN and who is getting hired.
I smell more BS. Biden isn’t even very convincing in his demeanor. They should not let him make such proclamations.
