Senators have hammered out a compromise that would allow unions to swell their ranks, and a key lawmaker said it should pass this year. Sen. Arlen Specter (D-Pa.) on Tuesday told the AFL-CIO convention in Pittsburgh that he has been working hard for hours on a deal with other key senators, such as Sens. Tom Harkin (D-Iowa) and Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.), as well as labor leaders, on the Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA).We have pounded out an Employees Choice bill which will meet labors objectives, Specter said. I believe before the year is out, and I will join my colleague Sen. [Bob] Casey [Jr. (D-Pa.)] in predicting, that there will be passage of an Employees Free Choice Act which will be totally satisfactory to labor.

I don’t like the sound of this.
More great news for the US economy
lots of well paid union employees
with almost no industrial base left in the USA and no jobs
I’d love to read the words “Spectre” and “pounded out” in an entirely different context.
If they cannot get “Health Care” passed then How the HELL are they(the Dems) going to shove this through?
Why would a senator comment on a bill Barney Frank is working on?
Thank Bush for that pile of crap!
It means democrat-turned-republican-turned-democrat Arlene Spectre has bowed down to the demands of King Baraq and is now supporting the odious anti-American “card check” provision.
God help us in our day, in Jesus name, Amen.
“We have pounded out an Employees Choice bill which will meet labors objectives,
But not the American people’s objectives.
Another bill proposed to benefit a small percentage of people destroy the rest us.
Fixed it
It’s so typical of criminal personalities to think that they can profit so much from threats and force. I guarantee that union membership will continue to plummet no matter how many protective laws are passed. If nothing else the businesses will just shut down entirely. Either way there won’t be any upsurge of union jobs. Just misery and economic ruin.
Scottish labor law.
I’d like to see Walmart shut its doors for a week to give liberals and politicians a taste of what they are asking for.
what an old america hater he is
Everyone probably knows this- but George McGovern- one of THE most liberal people to ever serve in Congress (and ran for president) is completely opposed to card check. That gives some important perspective.
If this passes it will be an insidious and destructive force in the economy...like all of Obama’s ideas.
They want to use this as a bargaining chip for health care. They think that threatening card check will get some republicans to vote for government-run socialist health care. Both are totally unsatisfactory for this country. This is not Venezuela.
It looks like it's time to take to the streets again. You'd think that a million folks in Washington would get their attention, but apparently, they don't give a fat rat's backside about the will of the people. It's time to step it up another notch.
The number of employees involved in manufacturing continues to fall like a rock.
Once the robots hve taken over your job it's not coming back ~ but it's not going to China either.
That's the OTHER financial problem we have ~ deflation as a consequence dramatic increases in the rate of industrial productivity.
