Facing a near-daily barrage of attacks from conservative opponents, White House officials are engaged in an internal debate over how hard to hit back, even as they have grown increasingly aggressive in countering allegations they deem to be absurd.

But at a tactical level, administration officials are taking seriously the potential for damage and are attempting to respond forcefully. In early August, officials stepped up their efforts to link the "birther" movement -- with its contention that Obama was not born in the United States and is thus not a legitimate president -- to Republican leaders.
Later in the month, Obama advisers began pushing back against allegations that he would establish "death panels" in his health-care overhaul, calling out former Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin for posting that charge on her Facebook page. Obama publicly rejected the charge that he is maintaining an "enemies list," raising the issue to dismiss it at a town hall meeting.
Officials who were interviewed said the goal is to anticipate the conservative attacks and be ready to respond the moment they threaten to balloon into a major story. They acknowledge, however, having limited success so far.

"There's a broader argument that is the underlying argument to all of these attacks, which is a very fundamental struggle about trying to tear this president down and delegitimize his presidency," said one senior administration official, speaking on the condition of anonymity. "That is really the war. And all of these are skirmishes -- some of them flare up into battles -- but the broader war is about the fate of this presidency and the other side's attempts to delegitimize him and to make him into a failure."

So the biggest thing is to stay on message and keep it going at a pace faster than they can deal with...
Using lies is always a failure ... Only works with people who can’t read.
More of the same...overwhelm the system.(Alinsky)
Everyone Must Do Something Everyday.
Call-write-email your congress-critter, daily!
Clearly they’ve already implemented the “all criticism of Obama is racist” meme, which every left wing editorialist has dutifully repeated in the last 2 days.
The White House, and the left in general, has been maligning the right since way before the inauguration. They've badmouthed every conservative that speaks out. They've sent their ACORN and SEIU thugs out to pick fights with little old ladies at Town Hall meetings. They've called everyone that disagrees with the president a 'racist'. And they've bombarded our television channels with almost daily propoganda speeches by Obambi himself.
And yet, here they sit wondering how to 'fight back'?
The “call the opposition racist” strategy seems to be the only one they have left now.

We are really talking about Beck and the whole Acorn story here. Plan A is currently underway: Just ignore the issue and hope the story dies. Pretty clear that's not going to work. Note that it was the same plan used with the "Birthers" issue a few weeks back.
Plan B could be: Ridicule, prosecution and lawsuits of those evil investigative journalists, Beck and Fox, and/or a ramp-up of the Beck Boycott Initiative.
Time, and not much of it, will tell. I expect a change in strategy very soon to be followed within a few weeks by a return to Plan A. That was the "Birther" cycle and it is likely to be repeated here.
In a world with ABC NBC CBS MSNBC CNN NYT LAT WaPO and everything else that makes up the MSM spin machine you lying assclowns can no longer suppress the truth.
Ms. Kornblut, life's really turning out to be a bitch in your whiney, myopic little world .. isn't it?
People who equate criticism of Obama's policies with race are "RACERS".
Pick up the term and use it daily. Call these people out!
RACER!
” ...attempts to delegitimize him and to make him into a failure.”
He’s doing a pretty good job of that on his own. These very talking points were used last night by that Dr. Hill on O’Reilly which show I continue to suffer thru, tho it becomes more difficult each and every night.
Hey, I know what they can do!
Call all their opponents “RACISTS”!
The smart ‘strategy’ would be, not to ‘counterpunch’ - which would be tantamount to trying to ‘counterpunch America’, but to abandon the ‘revolutionary socialist agenda’ and become more pragamatic to what America is really about. BUT - I don’t hold out any hope (which is great becuase these radicals are stuck on STUPID and will quicken their downfall, all the better).
Wow. What a novel idea!
” “There’s a broader argument that is the underlying argument to all of these attacks, which is a very fundamental struggle about trying to tear this president down and delegitimize his presidency,” “
Tee hee...
We’ve got ‘em where we want ‘em - they’re as frustrated as we historically been by having to ‘prove the negative’, and they’re reacting with over-the-top ‘victimhood’....
The polls are showing that this isn’t playing well with the Great Uncommitted Middle....
Greetings, fellow “Racer” evangelist.
It’s a great term, that, if picked up nationally, could end the whole use of the race card, and make its use the object of well deserved ridicule.
It applies more broadly than to criticism of 0bama’s policies,
it applies to those who see EVERY issue through the lens of race.
Read today that Rasmussen finds that 67% disagree that most of Soetoro’s critics are racially motivated...the Big Lie can work but only if the core producers of society are prepared to believe it. We have him off balance, per Alinsky, so keep on the pressure.
Obama is a miserable failure.
