Not too many years ago, my wife and kids were out of town for a week so I, of course, instantaneously de-evolved into a primitive state, three days growth, moth-eaten t-shirt, visible body odor, the whole deal. And one night, I threw together a sandwich of, I dont know, live grubs and buffalo dung or something, and wandered into the television room to see what was on. And there was Road House, the kick-ass action flick starring Patrick Swayze. And I figured, yeah, Id watch fifteen minutes of that while I scarfed my food. Predictably, I couldnt turn it off and watched the whole thing.
Okay, so then a day passes, Great Fire crosses sky, Big Dark sinks over valley, I toss together a sandwich of dinosaur tongue and grass or whatever. Wander into the television room to see whats on and hey, what do you know, theres Road House, the kick-ass action flick starring Patrick Swayze! And I figure Ill watch fifteen minutes of that while I eat and, of course, I couldnt turn it off again and watched the whole damn thing again!
Patrick Swayze wasnt a great actor and he wasnt a great movie star, but he was something even rarer in todays stable of Hollywood actors. He was a dude!...

Uncommon Valor - another great movie Swayzee was in...
Point Break is a great movie.
“You ain’t seen bad. But it’s comin’.”
I did the same dang thing last spring up until the classic ending line of all time "A polar bear fell on me"
Road House is one of the few remakes that I think topped the original, they differ greatly but Swayze made it a good movie.
One of the last among the "man's man" of Hollywood.
I remember that it was soon after Jeff Healey passed away that we learned about Swayze’s illness. So my first thought was “Roadhouse Curse.”
what about the line where Wesley’s thug says to him “I used to f guys like you in prison”. That might be the best movie line of all time.
Perhaps someone should play what Dalton says to the GOP. Be nice...until it’s time not to be nice
The GOP needs Dalton.
Remake?
And two of my all time favorites were Dirty Dancing and Ghost....what can I say - I’m a chick!!!! I lived in Houston for a lot of years and everyone there loved him and was proud of him....I’ve shed quite a few tears since last night....he was one of the good guys.....and you’re right - noone ever knew what his politics were - and damnit, that’s what we want from our entertainers......
What about “Next of Kin” That is a great revenge movie.
“And Swayze was married to the same woman since 1975. He loved her unconditionally.....”
This fact, his obvious fidelity and commitment to and love for his wife of many years...... this fact about him......made the ‘man’s man’ that Swayze obviously was... seem all the more incredibly sexy to me. I was truly praying that, against all the odds, he’d win his fight against his cancer. He seemed to be a human being with quality. I will miss knowing he is in the world.

You’re too stupid to have a good time!
'nuff said.

Yep, it is. Beautiful cinematography and direction. And a fun story.
RIP Patrick.

Klavan obviously has not seen Dirty Dancing. Patrick Swaze was a sexy romantic lead. The way he danced made me melt.
