WASHINGTON (AP) - The Obama administration is holding off major decisions that could put its military forces on a firmer war footing in Afghanistan even as doubts grow about whether the United States can win there.

Many military and diplomatic leaders have urged President Barack Obama to send thousands more Marines, soldiers and pilots to try to reverse Afghanistan's crumbling security situation.

But White House spokesman Robert Gibbs has said no decision about adding troops is expected for "weeks and weeks," following what he described as intensive evaluation. The troop decision will be a first indicator of whether Obama intends to double down in Afghanistan, becoming a wartime president in earnest.

No wonder this administration seems afraid of returning soldiers saying they are extremists.
Ozero and his minions are getting these folks and their buddies killed.

Don’t do that - you’ll make the rest of us look bad.

“With the leadership we have today, we won’t win this war.”

What about 7+ years of the Bush approach to Afghanistan?

What is the difference?

WWII won on multiple continents in half the time.

see posts 30 and 39

We need to start flooding the email boxes of Rush, Beck, Hannity et al - tell them to demand that pres. Bobble Head put our troops on the front burner - stop protecting the Taliban and giving them open range on our troops, now being killed as the highest rate of the whole war, thanks to the NOE - see posts 30 and 39 -

PROTECT OUR TROOPS, NOT THE TALIBAN

Tell President Bobble Head to cancel just one of his dozens of obamacare speeches and use that time to make decisions to get more help to our troops -

‘weeks and weeks’ -

The Taliban will use that time to dig in stronger than ever before - and with free reign to shoot at our unprotected troops = per order of Bobble Head - how many more will die.

gets those emails going and resend each and every day.
Remember the ‘rules’ of emails from their end:

they don't open mass emails: So use the BCC line to enter all email addresses after the first one. That way, each place only sees their email add - not the others.

Yep, everyone knows that diddling with a decision for “weeks and weeks” is always a good plan when in a war.

What an idiot.

The biggest difference I see is that Bush could have won this war but didn’t. Obama can’t win this war and even if he knew how, wouldn’t do it. Commander in Chief? How about Commander in Campaigning?

That's an important lesson that I learned early as a Platoon Leader: don't sit on your hands, DO SOMETHING!

President Obama: lead, follow, or get the hell out of the way!

I sincerely doubt that, if asked, Obama could correctly answer this question:

What was BG McAuliffe's response to the Germans surrender edict at Bastogne?

No, it wasn't FUBO, but it's pretty close...

WE CAN WIN... but not with a muslim marxist creating rules of engagement that are more restraining than the police operate under inside of this country. Winning wars=kill all of the enemy until they unconditionally surrender or you kill them all.

“Bring them home if you aren’t going to let them fight.” Couldn’t agree more! I hate to see any more lives wasted in this effort.

"Meanwhile, a body of opinion has also surfaced lately in influential quarters in the US- Henry Kissinger, Zbigniew Brzezinski, Brent Scowcroft, etc- that there is nothing abominable-as Cold Warriors might think- if NATO cooperates with the Moscow-led Collective Security Treaty Orginization and takes Russia's help in stabilizing Afghanistan"

Obama is highly influenced by the Realists-Pragmatists.

Victory is not in their lexicon. Events will make the decision for them, as they seem challenged to do so.

I don't want to be misunderstood.

Obviously Obama is incompetent and not fit to be Commander and Chief. Obviously too we are dealing with an ultra left wing administration incapable making the hard decisions necessary to fight any war.

Also of course there is legitimate disagreement amongst members of FR on what our strategy should be in Afghanistan. For myself I want to double down, triple down or whatever it takes to win. I know too that there are FReepers who disagree and feel Afghanistan is unwinnable on strategic grounds.

The only point I was trying to make when I made my comment on post 12 is that hatred for Obama should not blind anybody to what decisions should be in the best interest of the United States.

They just do not care how many of our troops die. Give help and let them take the gloves off, or bring them home!
