I wouldn’t say there is a “lot” of crime there. The campus is fairly safe, though the University does sit between 2 of Long Island’s most dangerous neighborhoods (Hempstead and Uniondale).
I guess you can’t blame this one on the local community, though. None of the perps live in the same county as Hosftra or within 15 miles of the campus and 4 were guests of the student perp.
Brentwood is overrun by illegals, so it will not surprise me if Taveras is an illegal.
The point is that there are massive, excessive numbers of violent crimes that are being committed by illegal alien Mexicans - also referred to as Hispanic and Latino, to be very clear to you - that are either being under reported or ignored completely by the MSM. A lot of people think this is a serious problem, because the percentage of violent crimes by these illegal alien Mexican hispanics are so much higher than those of, say, the Irish or any other ethnicity. For exact numbers, do your own research.
Also, a lot of people find the difference between the legal Irish immigrants and the illegal Mexican criminals to be pretty obvious, since the former were naturalized Americans and the latter are illegal criminals. And that difference alone - legal immigrant versus illegal criminal - matters to a lot of people. But also, in point of fact the legal Irish immigrants of the 1800's had nowhere near the social support of the illegal Mexican criminals of today.

No surprise you feel that way. Massive amounts of violent crime have never bothered liberals. And you're wrong about them looking Dominican - your ethnic sensitivity is embarrasingly biased. They are obviously Irish Mexicans. I think you need to understand that not everyone is white, and stop assuming that just because someone has brown skin you can throw them into some general label you picked up in a magazine. Racism is pervasive - examine yourself carefully, and fight the urge to think you're immune. Remember - self-condemnation is the only true honesty.

You have reading issues, son. I never said I wasn't bothered by crime -- let alone this horrific gang rape. But you're, frankly, an idiot if you think that this crime apparently committed by Dominicans has anything to do with Mexico or Mexican immigration. There are a lot of problems associated with Somali immigration too, but that's not the issue here either.
This is my childhood congressional district. It was overwhelmingly white and Catholic (with Jews in the Five Towns and blacks in Hempstead and Freeport) through the 1990s. Although the district has grown more "diverse" since the beginning of this decade, the main voting blocs (and their stupid habits and hoplophobia) continue to dominate.
I don't think we really needed to see a picture of the folks in question, as anyone familiar with the area would know what the perps looked like, politically incorrect as it may be. Nevertheless, to assume that they are "illegal Mexicans" is asinine. The NY area is filled with native-born Latinos of Puerto Rican and Dominican descent, along with South Americans, Salvadorans, and Mexicans of various income/racial/legal status strata.
